My doctor gave me a prescription for Boniva after a recent bone scan. I picked the once a month pill as I am a terrible pill taker. I took the first dose last Thursday and have had diarreah ever since. Is taking the once a week pill easier on your body?

I would guess that taking a pill that releases medication for a month has initially alot more medication entering your system all at once, so if you get side effects it may be worse. Plus, if the medication doesn't agree with you your stuck with it for 30 days in your system. When I took Fosamax, the first few days seemed the worst for side effects but towards the end of the 7 days, my stomach was getting back to normal, and then it was time again to take another weekly pill.

Did your body ever adjust or did you stop taking it? It has been 4 days since I took the once a month pill and I am starting to feel better.

My body never adjusted and my stomach problems were getting severe so I stopped taking the Fosamax and got switched to Forteo. I couldn't deal with the stomach problems and didn't want to stop eating so there wasn't much choice. I'm glad that you are feeling better.
