Has anybody ever heard of a mental illness with involuntary talking as a symptom? And, I don't mean talking weirdly due to psychosis; I mean the words just come out of your mouth without you commanding them (involuntary talking).

It's a neurological disorder. I think when a lot of people hear the term Tourette Syndrome they just automatically picture a person shouting profanities. Some people with TS just repeat words or phrases or just make noises. I don't know if this is what you're referring to, but that's what it sounds like to me.

I agree that it sounds like Tourette's. Yes, it's a neurological disorder, not a mental illness, but it's usually treated with anti-psychotics, and some of the symptoms are VERY closely related to Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, making those with Tourette's have a high comorbidity of OCD as well.

My son has a mild case of TS..he takes no meds...and functions just fine. As long as it doesn't affect you negatively...just go with it. But it does sound like TS
