Hello All,

I don't know if this is the place to post this or where else I should post but i have some questions.. First I had a hyst in april of 2000 and they left my ovaries is there a way to see if i'm fertile or not? Second, my boyfriend and I have talked and would like to maybe get my eggs frozen that way we can have a child of our own where would I start that process? Third, Where should I start in all this.
We don't want to waste the money in getting my eggs frozen if i'm not fertile but we really do want at least one of our own. In the state we live in we are common law married and are planning to buy a house in the next 6 months but after that we want to try for a child do you think that i've waited to long to see if i'm fertile?

Please help! Advice very much welcome.

Thx

You do mean you had a hysterectomy right? They removed your uterus but left your ovaries? And because you can no longer carry a baby yourself, you're thinking of having your eggs extracted and frozen to be carried later by a surrogate mother?

As for whether you're "fertile" the only question here is whether your eggs are still good. They can't find this out without extracting them. They can monitor you via ultrasound and bloodwork to see if you're ovulating normally but the eggs themselves can't be evaluated until they're taken out.

You should know that freezing of unfertilized eggs is not really available yet. Just this year the first baby was born from a frozen, unfertilized egg. The normal thing is to fertilize the eggs in vitro, then look at them a couple days later and freeze the ones that are of sufficient quality.
