Has anyone tried Midrin for their headaches? It's the generic for Epidrin.

Yes, when I first began taking prescription meds for my migraines I was put on midrin. It did help quite a bit from what I remember, but it also made me extremely tired and somewhat "dizzy." Use caution. However, I was also about 11 or 12 when I took it, so I guess you have to consider body weight and milligram dosage (which I don't remember). I know that it definitely took the edge off, but I find that Imitrex works much better for me with no side effects. Good luck to you!

Alright. Thanks. :) I tried Imitrex and had problems with breathing,so I know that's one I can't take. I've taken Maxalt and it worked, but no longer...Amerge didn't really do any good either. I'm trying Midrin now...

Hey there, I understand what you mean about the breathing thing. It kind of feels like your throat is tightening. This happened to me when I took a higher dosage. They started me at 100mg, but realized that 50 worked just as well with none of that funny stuff. Maxalt worked OK for me as well, but made me sick when it dissolved on my tongue. (By the way, my mother works in a doctor's office, so that's how I try these prescriptions - I'm not a druggy - promise ;) ) Anyway, I really hope the Midrin works for you. No one should have to be in pain. Feel free to ask questions. I've found that Frova and Zomig also work quite well with no side effects. Best of luck. Laura

Oh yeah. I know what you mean...:) telling all of the ones I've tried, if I listed everything I've had....oh boy! I have a really understanding Doc. though, thank goodness. I've worked with all kinds of docs. and I still do most of my med. changes with my family doc., he keeps up with all of the new meds. and everything. I'm going in Friday hopefully to talk about something new. The topamax isn't really working for me, and I need something other than the Midrin. :(
