Hello everybody. I have been off of the board for awhile. I was in the process of moving and have been really busy! All of the stress, poor eating habits, lack of sleep and lack of exercise have caused a huge setback for me! I feel worse than I have in months! I was holding up pretty good, but it all caught up to me and I also have a cold right now! I have been having earaches and feel that off balance, woozy feeling again and I am SO tired! I am like I was about 6 months ago! It is almost a year since I first had this and I really was doing pretty well. I guess it really won't ever go away totally! Anybody have any suggestions about how to overcome a setback like this??? I hope everybody is doing well and hello to newcomers too. Tess: have are you doing??

Hi Dizzy2,
I just posted a similar thread this morning. I think these colds just really get us down. I agree, it seems like we will never be the same as we use to. It stinks to just feel sick every day. Weird though, I don't feel that off (dizzy). It is more that my ears and headaches act up. What the heck is all the pressure I feel in my ears and sides of my head?
By the way, I'm too tired to search threads....how did yours start anyway? Was it from a virus or did you just wake up with vertigo?
Take care....I know how your feeling.

Hi, mine started in November 2004 when I woke up all of a sudden with vertigo and nystagmus (eyes darting back and forth). The short version is that I ended up going thru lots of tests and dictors and being told I was anxious or it was my heart, etc..before finally seeing a vestibular specialist that said it was likely labyrinthitis and BPPV. I have stayed active and slowly gotten to about 90% over the last several months, until now!! I hope that it is just all of the mental and physical stress and the cold. I want to feel better, even if it is not 100%!! What is your story?? Have a great day!!

How does one just wake up to this crap? I've read your story so many times on the boards. I really wonder what causes a person to just have this horrible stuff.
Anyway, to make my story short, I got sick the beginning of Dec. 04 and was put on an antibiotic that I had a horrible reaction to 10 days later. I was put on Prednisone for 10 days and a day later after I finished the prescription, I ended up with a severe ear infection that was surgically drained. Two and half weeks later this hell I've been living in started. I have pressure in my head and ears with horrible headache 24/7 and pulsating in my ears with tinnitus and so many other symptoms it would be too many to list. My dizziness was never true vertigo (spinning, movement, etc.). It is just kind of an off feeling but has really died down to nothing, but I am left with all the ear symptoms, pressure, vision problems and it doesn't seem to want to end. I feel sick every day. Some days worse than others.
I really thought you were coming along from your previous posts so maybe your cold is just setting you off and of course the good old stress. I never had so much stress and depression in my entire life. Actually, stress I had before, I realize now was not even stress. How could I ever have been so stupid to get stressed out over stupid things like getting the whole house cleaned and spotless before someone comes over to visit....silly now that I look back on it. And depression I never even new existed before all this.
I hope it is just your cold setting your off. You sound as if you've been really busy too. Hopefully things will setting back to your 90% again once this cold passes for you.
Hugs,
Gloria

I can relate to that! I always run around trying to do everything. We just moved and having all the boxes around and the house not "perfect" is driving me nuts!! I do put alot of pressure on myself too!! I went thru alot of sadness and anxiety with this stuff too! How can you not feel that way?? It is better, but with each setback, you slip to your old ways!

Dizzy!
Hi, I am shocked to hear you are not doing good. Im really sorry to hear that you are feleing bad. This cold seems to be travelling the world, everyone seems to have a cold right now. I felt really bad (start of a cold) at the weekend but I have been trying to drink lots and it seems to be helping.
I hope the house move went well and you managed to unpack and get settled before you started feeling bad. Probably the cold is a bit of a reaction to all the stress you have been under. Are you able to go to work or are you resting at home?
Do you remember that we started with this at almost the same time. it is 11 months, can you believe that we are still suffering with it - I can't. I never expected this to really go on this long. We seem to have always suffered in similar ways at similar times aswell, which in a way is reassuring that our recoveries match so well there is obviously nothing else to it.
Well, drink lots and try to get active, go for a walk with the dog and explore the new neighbourhood. You know that this is a reaction to the cold and you will feel better sooner than you expect, I hope. I always try to think aswell that if all the bad stuff comes out now then maybe there will be less later on as the brain has learned to get over these things now.
So tell us about your house - is it bigger than the old one, is the area nice? Have you moved far - will it be a shorter or longer drive to work and school?
Best wishes and lots of love

Tess,
It is good to hear from you! I have not finished unpacking, there are still boxes around the house. I don't feel like touching them. This is definately a cold and today it has turned into a cough too. The dizziness seems to be subsiding a bit though! :p I am drinking tons of fluids, but I am supposed to work tomorrow. The new house is just a few minutes away from the old one. I can actually see the building where I work from the dining room! It is bigger than what we had before and has a swimming pool in the back yard! The kids are loving that, but I have been sick, so I have not been in yet! Yeah, it is hard to imagine that we have had this for so long! I never would have guessed that back in November. Lucky I did not know, that would have made it worse. I know I will get back on my feet again, all the stress has not helped! Thanks for replying, I have missed the board during the move. Take care. D2

WOW, sounds so great having a swimming pool! Of course in the UK it is far too cold to even think of it - it would cost a fortune to heat even in the height of summer!! Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better, I am sure you will wake up tomorrow feeling even better.
So I am intrigued by where you work if you can see it from your house! What do you do - rough detail only as the mods don't like too much detail. I am an analyst and analyse data, use statistics etc.
Take care, off to have some dinner now

Well, without giving too much detail, the place where I work is where people go when they are sick; hint, hint! I actually am a nurse and I work in the discharge planning department. I help make any and all arrangements that people neeed prior to going home. I can see the top of the building from my dining room! Hope I don't get tinto trouble for saying I am a nurse, other people have said it too, so oh well. I never mentioned it cause it has no bearing on this board or this illness. Even being in this profession, I was struck with this and had no idea what it was! I had no more support than any other person, which is sad cause the place where I work has its own vestibular rehab center! I did not even know that until months later. You would think my doctor might have had a clue! Your job sounds very interesting to me, I love computers and all things that involve being organized and logical! I did stay home sick today, I feel bad about that, but I needed it! Hope your day is good and that the dizzies stay away!
XOXO, D2
