Hi everyone,
I have a sleep problem that I just can't figure out. I usually go to bed around 11:00 and get up at 8:00 (in college and can't really change this schedule much). For some reason I almost always wake up 1-5 times during the night. I don't notice any noise when I'm awake, I don't have to go to the bathroom, I don't have much on my mind. Doctor thought it might be nasal swelling caused by allergies but allergy medication had no effect. I usually fall back asleep without trouble but then wake up in the morning not feeling rested (I also usually wake up about 30min-hour earlier than I want to and end up lightly dozing on and off until I get out of bed).
Does diet affect sleep quality? I must admit that mine hasn't been ideal. It's been fastfood fairly often (and the rest being about Subway quality sandwiches or wraps).
Any help or advice would be appreciated. I would really prefer to avoid sleep medication if at all possible. Thanks!

I probably can't help much but I will put in my two cents worth anyway. If you are in college I'm sure you are under pressure whether you realize it or not, so that is probably part of the problem. I'm sure a better diet would be healthier but I don't think your diet would cause loss of sleep unless you are drinking lots of coffee, or eating chocolate ( anything with caffiene .)
I do know what you are going through though, I have had a difficult time sleeping for the past several years. I too would stay away from sleep medication if possible. If you do decide to try a mild medication, Tylenol PM is as good as any. Hope this helps a little. Good luck in college !!!
