Whats up everyone. I am a fellow OCD'er and used to be on prozac for a few years actually. It worked remarkably well, but now for some reason I get awful headaches when I take it or any other SSRI. Has anyone else here had experience with different meds that help them. Again I cant describe how well prozac made me, and I wish I could figure out why after a few years my body now rejects it and any ssri med. I tried switching to natural remedies like 5-htp they give me different kinds of headaches.> Whoever can offer any insight please help as my OCD is gettin the best of me also very depressed.

Luvox is excellent in treating OCD. But of course that varys from person to person. Have you treid it yet??. I know it's an SSRI but the only way to find your niche is to experiment.

Sinnister, (LOVE that name! LOL!) :D
In my case, too, Prozac has also been the one drug that stopped my OCD in its tracks. For years this illness took over every minute of my day. But, within a month of starting Prozac, I (and my twin sister) had our lives back again. We consider it our "wonder" drug..and have been on it since about 1987.
It is not easy to find a drug that works for OCD. Believe me, I know! :-0 So--before you write Prozac off as the sole cause of your headaches, please be certain to see a specialist--a psychiatrist specializing in psychiatric drugs. Explain the situation and ask if you should have medical tests done to see if the cause of the headaches is the Prozac, itself--or, perhaps, an interaction with any other medical problems you may have--or any other medication you might be taking.
I have not had headaches or any other bad symptoms from Prozac. I take 80 mg (4 pills a day) and have been 95% free from OCD since I began this medication. If it works for your obsessions and compulsions....you should try everything you can to stick to it. (Not if it's making you ill, of course! But just be certain it's the Prozac causing your headaches!)
Best of luck to you. Let me know how it goes,
Lynn :)

How long were you on it this time? I take Prozac, and have gone off it and back on it several times. I've noticed that each time I get back on it, I get different side effects, but they all abate in a month or so.
Might also be worth a visit to a neurologist to see if they can help you with this.
Wish you the best, prozac is a terrific drug, for me.
