Laur77 09-28-2005, 10:37 AM How often does everyone bath their little ones? Karen62705 09-28-2005, 11:15 AM I bath mine every other day, at night before bed.....Occasionally he'll spit up during the day, and will smell....so he'll get a bath that night even if he had one the night before. We also like to go swimming, so he'll get a bath on days we go swimming also. dragonprincess 09-28-2005, 11:21 AM I bath my littal one ever night befor bed it helps to calm him and get him relaxed at 10:00 pm it's bath time and by 10:30 he's in bed asleep.I started this because he had calice real bad it was the only thing that would make him stop crying at night. 2fast4u 09-28-2005, 11:21 AM I give DS a bath once a day but sometimes he goes a whole day with out a bath. He loves the tub and enjoys it so much that I put him in there mostly for that reason. He doesn't really get dirty. andilyn 09-28-2005, 12:08 PM We do it usually every other day, unless there were any spit ups, then it's more often. But like 2fast4u said, my baby loves the tub, so we put him in there quite a bit so he can have some fun. jmcummins3 09-28-2005, 12:31 PM Our doc said every few days is good, but we give DD a bath just about every night because it seems to help her relax and fall asleep better, not to mention that she is on solid food and gets it all over her and it's easier to put her in the tub sometimes. InDueTime05 09-28-2005, 02:31 PM I give DD a bath every morning after her cereal feeding. She gets so messy and then the cereal gets crusty on her face so she gets one everyday. She also spits up some nights so her head may smell of spit up so that is another reason. At night I just put on baby calming lotion before her bedtime and she is normally out within 45 mins or so. Sometimes though if she is real cranky at night we'll give her a bath to calm her down. She LOVES bathtime although I get just as wet as she does lol. She kicks her legs all over it's so cute. nicky2005 09-28-2005, 02:49 PM We give our DS a bath everyday. Its a part of his bedtime routine and he loves it! Gayle0000 09-28-2005, 04:12 PM I've been bathing about every other day to 3rd day. I prefer every other day, but my daughter is only 3 weeks old, husband just went back to work, and I'm still figuring out how to do the day shift by myself. We have been bathing her in the morning...but reading everyone's posts...I think maybe a nighttime bath may be in order. She likes bath time a lot. Sounds like a good routine to signal "bedtime" to her. Gayle AllTheLarsons 09-28-2005, 04:12 PM 1st time Moms - every day, even more often if baby gets messy, spits up, etc. 2nd time Moms - nearly every day, don't want the second baby to miss out on the attention the first one got :D 3rd time Moms - every other day, absolutely every 3rd day, fib about it and say every day if someone asks, wouldn't want them to think you're neglectful :bouncing: 4th+ time Moms - whenever the kid is smelly and/or too crusty to overlook. If you can, you also bathe however many other of your kids you can fit and manage in to the tub at the same time, kill lots of bath birds with one tubby time ;) shelliam 09-28-2005, 10:23 PM Everyday at 8:30 usually asleep by 9. Celestine 10-03-2005, 03:54 PM I am so jealous! My baby is only 2.5 weeks old this week and he HATES the bath. We've only been able to sponge bath him, (belly button) until today and I took him for his first big bath. I even got in with him to help calm him down. He was a little calmer but still not happy about the whole thing. I'd say it's the first "successful" bath he's had since he came home. Before today we'd bath him every two days and you'd have to do it as fast as humanly possible because he'd be in hysterics the entire time and flopping around like a fish out of water. Please tell me he'll start to enjoy it a little more. Up till now it sounds like we're pulling his arms off during bath time! Dani Girl 78 10-03-2005, 06:00 PM Both of my boys get baths every other day, and it's just gotten easier. They take baths together and it's SOOOO cute. Then when we moved her to the bigger bath she screamed as soon as she got in and was just wimpering during the bath but as soon as we took her out she'd scream again. Now she is going to be four months on Friday and LOVES the bath. Absolutely no crying. I'm sure he'll start to enjoy it soon. 2fast4u 10-03-2005, 08:10 PM Celestine - At first DS hated his bath time too. But one day, I was rushing out the door and he dirtied his diaper up to his neck. So I put him in the tub in a hurry and he was so happy. Turns out I was making his baths too warm. He actually wanted them cooler. At least to me they were far cooler then I would consider taking a bath or bathing an infant. And to this day that is the way he wants them. shelliam 10-04-2005, 09:24 PM Celestine, also try putting a warm washcloth over his belly. It helps them stay warm and feel secure. Celestine 10-05-2005, 12:41 PM Celestine, also try putting a warm washcloth over his belly. It helps them stay warm and feel secure. That's a good idea. Thanks everyone! We tried it again last night in the big tub. Funny thing was he was screaming when me and dad were in there (me in tub, dad out), dad left and he calmed down, dad came back and he went into hysterics again. lol I guess dad's banned from bath time till he gets a little more used to it. |
