i was treated with metragel for bacterial vaginosis. It didn't take care of the problem so i called the nurse to tell her...cuz the dr said if it didn't work I should give them a call. They want me to come back in to make sure it's bacterial vaginosis and not something else. I'm having the same exact symptoms as before so i don't think it's anything else. What else might it be? I'm annoyed that they want me to come back in instead of just doing another round or something of the metragel. my other question is I only notice it a week or so after my period...anybody know why this is?

HI THERE... iF I WERE U I WOULD JUST GO TO THE DOC AND HAVE THEM CHECK IT OUT. mETROGEL DOESN'T WORK FOR EVERYONE. U MAY JUST NEED ANOTHER TYPE OF ANTIBIOTIC OR IF U R LIKE ME AND ALOT OF OTHER WOMEN ON THESE BOARDS, IT KEEPS RECURRING. I GET BV AFTER MY PERIOD TOO AND MY DOC TOLD ME ITS DUE TO THE IMBALANCES THE VAGINA ENCOUNTERS EACH MONTH. i WOULD JUST GO BACK TO THE DOC. GOOD LUCK 2U!!!

Metrogel has worked for me at times, and then other times it hasn't. I get recurring BV infections a lot. So much so that I diagnose myself and Dr. knows when I call in to just write me a script for it. He has also had me on pill antibiotics. It's best to be seen so he can rule out another infection.

I have never heard of that, and I have to say, it doesn't seem like something I think is safe! I think you should go back in to your Dr so they can figure out what is up and give you the right treatment.

I would take lactobacillus acidophilus supplements before I would squirt yogurt anywhere. I think you are supposed to eat the yogurt, but I guess it would be kind of like a vinegar douche...making the vaginal environment less able to reproduce the bad bacteria. You probably need another round of Metrogel, or other similar med, but you should get checked out just in case something else is going on. Make sure you take the entire course of meds, even if you are feeling better.
