View Full Version : Storing Cereal?

Hi ladies, I was just wondering if any of you have ever stored your babies cereal? We were told to feed it to him and this has happened about 3 times to where he's making a fuss and giving me signs like he's hungry, so when I go to mix it for him he ends up falling asleep on my shoulder. I've never stored it, I always end up throwing it away because I don't know if you can store cereal (with the milk already mixed in) in the fridge like that. I know you can store a bottle up to 48 hours or so, but does anyone know about the oatmeal? Thanks!

When DD doesn't finish hers I cover it and put it in the fridge. I try and use it again within 24 hours. I heat it back up in the microwave. I wouldn't recommend reheating it more than once though.

Take care :)

It says on the box, to discard any cereal left over. Just like a bottle of formula or breast milk, once they have it in their mouth, it starts to generate bacteria, and your not supposed to re-use any bottle contents in more than an hour. I know it hurts to throw any away, but I think it's safest.

Well see dizzy girl, before i can even put it in his mouth he sometimes falls asleep on my shoulder while i'm making it. So yesterday I didn't feed him anything. So i covered it up and put it in the fridge and he woke up 40 minutes later and I re-heated it and fed it to him. He seemed to take it just fine. Though yes, when i've fed him before and he no longer wants it, after the spoon has been in his mouth, I throw away the left overs. But thank you 2 ladies for your help.
