I am just checking for my DH. He has to take Nexium 40mg. a day, and just wondering if anyone has developed high cholesterol or high triglycerides.
He has carotid artery disease, but it could be hereditary.

Friend took Nexium and Acephex and didn't have any noticeable problem with cholesterol. If the levels changed a bit, nobody noticed?
Searching around the web, I see no mention of any cholesterol changes with PPI's.

Okay thanks. I read that PPIs can cause low B-12, which in turn causes high homocysteine levels. High homocysteine levels are found in people with cardiovascular disease.
My DH has carotid artery disease, so just concerned. He most likely needs a B-12 test.

Make sure he's getting at least 1200 mcg of Folic Acid if you suspect high homocysteine levels. Of course, the best way to know is to test the homocysteine directly.
