View Full Version : Painful Temps and Bit Shift

Seven weeks ago I had temps placed from canine to canine, on my lower teeth. This was done in preparation for porcelain veneers. This procedure was necessary, according to my dentist, because I am a tongue thruster and was pushing my teeth apart. She also said having a good bite would improve the health of my gums. The day after my temps were placed, my dentist left for a week. I was in terrible pain. When she returned, she said my bite was off, did some adjustments, then left for another 3 weeks. I was still in terrible pain. Before she left I asked who I should see if the pain continued—she said no one but she was to “mess” with my bite. I was never informed that she would be leaving for such an extended period of time, nor was I ever informed that anything but minimal discomfort for a few days after the procedure would be present. I have been in 6 times since her return each time she make adjustments, fixes the occlusal guard---but still I have no relief. I really don’t know where to turn now, I want to leave her ASAP, but I’m in the middle of this procedure. I am greatly concerned that the adjustments to my teeth are causing even more severe problems such as increased heavy hitting on my back molars—I’m worried they’re going to fracture. I should add that until this procedure was done, I can honestly say I’ve never had painful teeth. Never.. Any suggestions?
