Hello everyone. I have a question. Right now I have health insurance through the state which a pay a high premium for. I also have a pre existing condition. I am not working at the moment, I am thinking about returning to work and hopefully will be getting health insurance through my employer. My question is...do I have to inform my new employer about my pre existing condition? I always thought it didn't matter if I went into a group policy, but I was talking to my dad about it tonight and he said that I might have to mention my pre existing condition to them because it might make their premiums go up. So I'm just wondering if I have to mention this to them or not. I don't have a job yet, but I am interviewing. Thanks for and advice or info. It is appreciated

Mickey32.

It really doesn't matter. Group plans usually have an "open enrolement period" where anyone can get health insurance through the company's plan. There are lots of people paying every month so the insurance company can afford to let people with pre existing conditions in.

You should answer any question that is asked. And, if there is a question that says: "do you have any conditions not mentioned please state", yes do so. You are obligated to give full disclosure if asked.
