Wow. I just got back from the ER. I had been having a cough and such and alot of tightness in my chest. So I called my doc and he said that I should go in immediately to make sure it was nothing serious. I'm thinking: what else could it be other than pnuemonia??

So I get there, and they take me straight back. Blood work, UA, chest X-ray, CT scan. So the blood work showed a possibility that I might have a pulmonary embolism!!! A blood clot in my lung?? Which, of course, can be fatal. This was NOT what I was expecting to hear. I though maybe bronchitis, or something of the like. So finally, after all the above tests, they said that the CT scan didn't show any clots but that it would only pick up the larger ones in the bigger vessels. If there were any small ones, they could go unnoticed for a while. So they said that they felt 'pretty good' about sending me home. Gee, that's reassuring! I have a little area near my incision site that is bulging a bit so they were worried about hernia, or me busting myself open with my coughing. So they gave me some cough syrup and sent me home. Said it could be the early stages of something bronchial, but nothing showing up so far.

Yikes. I didn't realize how many possible complications there are after surgery! Hopefully, it's just a cough that will go away soon. I don't want to go through that again!

Wishing you nothing but good luck with this coughing and hoping it stops.

My trouble came in straining for that first bm. Hurt some of the muscles, and was told to stop straining. Had to take Milk of Magnesia for the first time in my life!

Be very careful! Thinking of you.

Hey Lil Pea..
Take it easy and get rest...Hopefuly it is just a bronchial problem..
I knopw 4 weeks after my surgery I had a stomache virus and fever..that sucked !!@!!!
I think the immune system is probably week after surgery so we are more suseptable to infections like that.
Take your meds and if you still don't feel well see the doc !!!!
