I was having pain in my mouth but couldn't specify where. I had x-rays done and they found that my very last tooth is cracked and has a deep cavity and the one next to it has an abcess (and is already capped). My dentists feels that it's the cracked one that is giving me the pain so my question is: I know that you shouldn't leave an abcessed tooth go because it could cause more serious problems but could I wait until my dental insurance goes into effect which is June 1st, 2001 to take care of the abcessed tooth?

I wouldn't advise leaving it. I just had one removed 3 weeks ago after suffering with it for about a month. Get it taken care of before it flares up and you have to go on antibiotics to the reduce swelling. I honestly believe that I am having secondary problems as result of leaving it!!! Trust me I'm the world's biggest chicken when it comes to dentists but any competent one will be pretty painless. Better safe than sorry. Good Luck!

Get the tooth that is cracked, and has the deep cavity fixed. Did your Dentist put you on antibiotics? Take the antibiotics and see if you condition improves. If you can get by until June, then go for it. Sometimes after taking the antibiotics, the infection will clear up for a short while.
But first get the tooth that is decayed and cracked fixed first!
Good Luck!
