I'm 20 years old, and have not been to the dentist since I was about twelve. I am so scared of the dentist, that I can't even explain it. I have had three cavity's for a long time, and they are now really starting to hurt. On top of that, about four years ago, I had a filling come out of one of my molars, and I can't even eat on that side of my mouth. I have finally faced the fact that I have to go to the dentist... I'm am so scared, it racks my brain, and gives me stress 24-7!!! I have dental insurance, and I have the money to be put to sleep. I am so scared, that I wont even let a dentist pick in my mouth until I am asleep. I will let him look in there, but I have to be totally asleep for him to touch anything!! Am a crazy or what? I found that dentist that specializes in people who fear the dentist, so maybe I will try him. Can some one please give me any suggestions, or tell me what they are going to have to do to my tooth with no filling. Has any one been put to sleep? What pain am I going to feel? Will I wake up while they are working on my mouth! Some one please help me!!!!!!!

hunny relax.. get urself to a dentist who puts people to sleep.. that way he can do all the work u need done in ur mouth.. u dont feel anything when ur sleeping.. the weird thing is u dont even know ur sleeping yet.. its soooooo fast.. they put a tiny little needle in ur arm.. and then they say ok hun count to 10.. AND BY THEN UR LAUGHING THINKING OMG THIS FEELING IS SO COOL.. then u wake up.. its so fast.. one time a filling feel out of my tooth.. all these do is stuff some filling right back in.. then they tell u to bite down to smooth it out.. its easy..

I am just as AFRAID of the dentist as you- mainly because everytime I went (as a child and teen) they always hurt me. However, you know what happened to me? I waited so long to go back to the dentist. Last time I went was when I was 14 and didn't go back again until I was 22. My teeth were so bad and at age 22, I had to have a full upper denture put in! Now I have to live with it everyday! So I urge to get your butt to the dentist asap. Fear of the dentist is not as uncommon as you might think! If you find the right dentist, it sounds like you have, they are very understanding and gentle! Just try to relax and remember to take care of things now before it is too late!
