View Full Version : Very painful teeth

I had a white deep filling 6 weeks ago. Since then it has been very sensitive to cold. About 2 weeks ago, I developed very intense pain in the same area, but I also had a wisdom tooth in the same place, so couldn't tell which was causing the pain. The dentist recommended taking out the wisdom tooth as a first step and did this 4 days out. It was a straight forward extraction, but I am still in agony. I am taking painkillers every few hours and fill like a zombie. I have a long flight in 3 days time for a 5 days trip. Should I go back to the dentist before then or do you think it is the wisdom tooth healing up. The filling teeth is still extremely sensitive but doesn't hurt if I press it. Is this likely to get better or do you think this is causing the pain. I really am at a loss as to which way to turn at the moment - I just want to get rid of the pain. Any help appreciated.

I would check with your dentist and ask for a follow up visit. I usually have pain and and sensitivity for a few days after I get a filling, but it only lasts a few days. It can't hurt to be checked out one more time! Good luck!

Janice - I've had the same problem. I had regular fillings which were replaced a few months ago with white fillings. For the first few weeks I had awful toothaches. Now I'm still sensitive to anything cold or crunchy (crackers). Very frustrating. My dentist says it will get better with time, but my old fillings never had this problem
