Hi, my name is Matt.

I've been to the doctor before because of constipation issues where I couldn't go to the bathroom for practically weeks. There were also little hints of blood which I attributed to hemmerhoids or something. So I finally got an endoscopy done last year. I guess he didn't find anything. After that things were going just fine. I was going regularly and everything was great. Then a few months ago I got the constipation thing again. Then after a few weeks that died down. Now I'm at school and I'm noticing blood on my stool and on the toilet paper, sometimes even drops in the toilet bowl. Once there was a stool that had a streak of blood on it. I immediately thought hemmerhoids, but then I also realized I had a sort of discomfort in my lower abdomen. When this discomfort shows itself it makes me feel like I need to go to the bathroom. But I haven't had any cases of diahrea. Could this be Crohn's or something? I'm 22 and I don't know my family medical history since I'm adopted. Please help.

Hi Matt:

Hey my mom was adopted too, so I know how you feel not knowing your medical history.

Your symptoms sound a lot like Crohn's, or colitis, or IBS with constipation. You probably have internal hemorrhoids too because of all the constipation, which could also account for the bleeding. The problem is, you can't diagnose this on your own. You should make an appointment to have this checked. Most likely you will just have to change your diet (add tons of fiber), but you should make sure there isn't something else going on like diverticulitis, or other infection of some kind. You are pretty young to have one, but a colonoscopy can tell you what you need to know. Try not to worry, I'm sure that is part of the problem too. Take care. :)

Thanks SRMom,

I really appreciate your response. I think I'm going to see the doctor again sometime soon. I've recently developed more symptoms that sound fairly like Crohn's so I guess theres a good chance thats what I have. Oh well, thanks again for your response.

Matt
