Is the bulge still there now? It could be rectal prolapse, but it's probably a hemorrhoid. I'd call your doctor and ask what's going on. He/she might want to examine you again. What were they testing you for when you had the barium?

If you have rectal prolapse, it does mean a little part of your intestines are coming out. Your rectum is part of your intestines..it is at the very end. If your doctor told you to push it back in, she probably doesn't think it's too serious. If it continues and causes problems like you aren't able to keep clean, or you're in a lot of pain, you would possibly need surgery to correct the problem. Don't be scared, just gently push it back in and try not to strain when you have a bowel movement. And don't be embarrassed, all of us on here talk about things that we are embarrassed about, but we are here to help each other.

good advice from everyone, also if you had a barium test, youre suppose to drink LOTS of fluids to get that stuff out or it can get you rather constipated if it stays in there.

Yikes! That DOES sound scary!
The only suggestion I have, is can you drink some prune juice? Just a cup, and that will help you go so you don't have to strain.

take stool softeners, this is different than laxatives and drink lots of water, also take supplement fiber in the way of benefiber or fibercon. Eat raw vegies and raw fruit.
DO NOT STRAIN.
RELAX on the stool so you don't cause further damage. If your doc doesn't help you out see another one who will take this problem more seriously.
