Ds is three months old and I have yet to find the "perfect" bottle. We are currently using the Playtex Ventaire. They have been "O.K." But they are a pain to clean with all the parts, and now some of them are starting to leak. I started with the Playtex Nursers, and just didn't care for the whole bag liner thing.
What bottles do you all recommend, and love? Are there any that you don't recommend? I'm desperate to find the "perfect" bottle, as this will be one less thing for me to worry about.

Well I used and loved the Playtex w/ the bag liners. And hated the drop in liners.

We are currently using the Dr. Browns bottles; really have no complaints about them other than the cleaning...got some extra parts to it as well, but other than that my son has never really suffered from horrible gas and no leaks.

We use Evenflo, and have since my DS was born, and he's 3 months old now. With my DD, we used the Playtex ones with the liners, and I couldn't stand them. But we have had pretty good luck using the Evenflo ones.

I use the plain old 6 sided bottles that people used 30 years ago, except these are plastic. Cheap and easy to clean. I think the brand is either Evenflo or Playtex.
I know a lot of moms who have babies with gas problems swear by the Avent bottles.

I used the ventaire with my dd and I loved them, yeah extra parts but they work well, the only downfall to them is you cannot stick them in warm water to warm the bottle, the water will leak in, the old ones anyway, I have not tried it with the newer ones. I have bought dr browns, avent etc... I have also purchase the parents choice anti colic nipples for the bottles, they have nobs on it for teething also, and I found that anyone of them works just as good as the other, I don't feel anyone is more superior then the others. Hope you find what you are looking for. good luck

We use the Evenflo Comfi and love them. They are angled like the Ventaire ones. We originally bought a whole set of the Ventaure ones and DD was too lazy of an eater to suck with those nipples. Thankfully, I had bought a few of other brands just in case and she liked the Evenflo best so we stuck with those. They only have the bottle, nipple and nipple ring to clean and the top if we go out.

I have advent, vent-air, and plain cheap'O ones. They all work great to me. The advent leak more. When it comes to a gassy baby, changing formula has worked better than changing bottles. Just be sure that you read the nipple and make sure it's slow flow for newborns. I didnt know about that the first week and had a mad baby! I was wondering why it only took her 5 minuites to eat. Duh, Jen! My poor baby.

You all arer awesome!!! :bouncing: Thanks so much for your replies. I went out today and bought the cheap bottles, there Winnie-The-Pooh, and so far so good!
I have come to learn that when it comes to baby stuff expensive is not always better, everything is trial and error!

I have a variety of different bottles, from the vent air, to the special nurser ones that are supposed to "feel" like a mother's nipple, to the cheapos with the six sides and the cheapos that are kinda curved.
DS is such a little piggy, he will eat out of anything...and he eats the soy formula so he rarely gets gassy--if he does, I have the gas relief drops that work well.
I have found that he prefers certain nipples over others...he lkes the cheap ones, and these ones with little nubs on them. He HATED the nipples that came with the one set of expensive bottles we bought....go figure.
So play around with them--and you are right, tons of money doesn't always buy the best :p

I have always used the gerber plastic bottles. DS is a year old and for him its always been the nipple that he is fussy about. I have been using the NUK Nipples for him since birth and they dont come with any bottle. I have to buy them separate and use bottles with a narrow neck. Gerber bottles are really cheap!

babygirl224: What ever you perfer and what ever your baby likes is fine.
I have used the Vent Aire, Playtex Nurser, and Dr. Brown. We used the Vent Aire the longest, but cleaning all the small parts every day got annoying. I finally got the cheap "Parents Choice" Bottles from Wal-Mart, and the cheap Winnie-The-Pooh ones from Target. I bought 3 of each and have been using them for a few days now with no problems.
The one thing I have stuck with is using the Dr. Brown nipples, no matter what bottle I use. The Dr. Brown regular nipples, have fit fine in every bottle I have used.....except the playtex nurser, as those have the bigger nipples. SO for now were sticking to the cheapos with the Dr. Brown nipples.

We didn't find the bottles make that much difference but the type of nipples sure do. We have the nurser type, some in latex and some in silicone and I hate the silicone ones. After you've pushed the air out of the bottles a few times the holes in the silicone ones seemed to stretch. They start leaking, sometimes he gets too much causing him to choke and gasp on it and you have to re-push all the air out everytime he stops to burp causing him to get angry at having to wait. The latex ones seem to hold their shape alot better.
