Compulsive skin picking (CSP) is an Obsessive-Compulsive Spectrum Disorder (OCSD), so if you have regular OCD, I'm almost 100% positive that the skin picking is a result. I'm a skin picker, too; I do my cuticles and the skin around my toes, but my worst area is my scalp. I have all of these painful, oozing, infected sores, but I can't stop. If you have any more questions, or simply want to talk, I'm here! God bless!

I pick my cuticles too, with a cuticle nippers. I clip around the sides of my nails and the cuticles....sometimes til it hurts and bleeds a little. I think it's something you shouldn't start because the skin grows back hard and it makes you want to clip it again....(although I know that advice doesn't help any of us now....LOL), but I'm pretty sure it is a sign of OCD. Even when I was a kid I would pick my fingernails, not bite them, but pick them. My mom was always telling me....."don't pick your nails". There's even pictures of me picking my nails....LOL

rosequartz- That's exactly how it is on the cuticles! The skin around my toes and on the bottom of my right big toe is literally dead- it's all hard an calloused (which is why I cut it in the first place- to make it smooth), and it grows back hard, making me cut it again! I say it's dead b/c I too cut with cuticle scissors, and I don't even feel it. In fact, if I do feel pain, that's when I know I went too hard, and I'll bleed! Trimmed them tonight! :D

Yeah, I never go out without at least one or two cuticles bleeding! Can't stop picking at them. I bought a cuticle trimmer (like little scissors) and thought that would help but it makes them worse because I keep at it.

I can't stand to have any rough spots or skin loose or hanging. Got to pick it off.
