View Full Version : Is This an Underlying Heart Problem?

Hi:
This is my first time on this boad, so I am not sure if an actual MD frequents and replies to questions or if other members just share their insights, but eithre way, I'd like to give you a brief background on myself and past activities that may have contributed to my current concerns regarding health problems. I am a 21 year old male, but an concerned about a low BMI which is in the 16's. I have been pretty thin my whole life, but have failed to gain a single pound within the last 4 years. I am 5'7'', but weigh 107lbs. I am fairly sure this is atlesat 15-20 lbs underweight for my height. I have, however, for the last two 1/2 years consumed about 1/2 pack cigarettes and anywhere between 2-7 grams of marijuana per day. I've taken psychedlic shrooms twice, and done about 20 lines of coke in my life. I have never had any adverse reactions to drugs at all, and for some reason actually felt mostly unphased for the most part by taking coke, even when I'd consume about 6 lines in a session, and assumed it was due to my excessive marijuana use.
Anyway, to get to the point, recently I had quite smoking cigarettes and marijuana for about 3 1/2 weeks. I smoked a blunt (like 1.3g) with a friend and became overwhelmed with a minor pressure feeling/burning senstation in my left side. My eyes felt really stiff, and I started experiencing what I can only explain as a dull, disconnected feeling in my head. Considering myself to be pretty much a veteran at smoking if you will (and seemingly the most laid back and calm person I know) what followed was something I've never experienced. My heart rate broke 200 bpm, my face was practically green, and I needed to just lay down. I felt intermitten pain that felt like someone was pinching a muscle, which I'll describe as minor because it was bearable but unnatural. The 200bpm is what concerns me. I was twitching too, which I've never done before. Being how I am, after this passed, I had to smoke again to see if it was just bc I hadnt smoked in a while. I've abstained from weed for this amount of time before, and never felt like that when smoking again. Anyway, the second time was worse, and the weed was terrible. It was anything but potent, so I know that the marijuana wasn't just overwhelming me (again, let me stress that i smoke like a champ). This time, it was worse, to the point where I smoked on a car ride, and when I tried to walk my motor skill felt a little disfunctional, i actually tripped a little my first few steps, my legs felt strange as hell. I was getting pain in my neck and underarm area, left side again, with a heart rate of 200bpm. I actually wasn't even high anymore this time, because it killed my buzz. So, practically sober, 1-2 hrs into smoking dirt weed, and my heart rate was raging still. I felt so physically depleted after that I can't describe it. I actually timed my heart rate, yes lol. I rationalize this as like a panic attack of some sort bc of my age, I am a little embarassed to goto the doctor and ask them to "check my heart". I actually experienced some vein poppage out of my left arm too, like visibly above the skin as if someone wrapped a rubber band around it. and, uncontrallable twitchin in my legs and head/neck area.
After these two days in a row smoking, i have quit again for another month as of today. I experience palpitations still, most noticeably when I lay down to goto sleep, and when I wake up, my heart rate is racing. Same thing with hot showers, into the mid 100's bpm. I notice my heart beating off rhythm sometimes. Once in a wihle I experience what I will describe as "bubbling" in random parts of my body, like an arm or a leg, sometimes near my stomach., once in a while only, which last longer enough to physically put a finger on it, and it feels like an erradic pulse, but isnt' actually in rhythm with my actual pulse. I had peviously been experiencing fatigue which I complained about to my doctor year's ago, around 17-18 before I smoked weed, and he told me I was just busy with work/school. Went back bc it was worse during age 19, but he dismissed it bc he said its due to smoking weed according to him. I still dont smoke weed now, but expeirence it worse then ever. I get the sensation of blood rushing to my face, and most notably my nose every so often like when u hang yourself upside down, except im just driving in my car or sitting in a chair. Usually, the sensation is simultaneous with my brining myself out of a daze or day dream type deal. The palpitati0ns i feel are pretty much everywhere, fingers, chest, neck, head, ear, i can hear it viibrate off my pillow sometmies at night.
