My daughter (11 years) was diagnosed 3 years ago with an enlarged aorta and bicuspid aortic valve. She hasn't experienced any problems. Whenwe took her for her yearly check up, we didn't get good news. Her aorta has grown 3 cm in one year. I asked them what the measurement was and they told me 36 cm. They have put her on Atenolol and want to see her in 6 months. They took her out of P.E. for school and they don't want her doing any jumping - at all! Last year they let her take P.E. and I have to wonder if that has had any affect on the enlargement. I have done research on the internet, but I can't find what the normal size for the aorta is. And I still have lots of questions. If anyone knows anything about this, information would be greatly appreciated!! This has me so scared, I can't even sleep at night.
