Hello Bilger,
I have a form of leukaemia and have had chemo, so I can understand to an extent what your mother in law might have been through. There are many blood disorders and the treatments available are improving all the time, so you should not necessarily fear the worst.
Chemotherapy can effectively wipe out the immune system, before it recovers again. It sounds as though your mother in law has sought treatment for her infection and this is the main thing. She should have priority access to her GP and hospital, if she shows any sign of illness, so that anti-biotics can be prescribed.
I hope that she opens up and talks.
regards

Hi kee4u!

I noticed you lost your mom shortly before I lost my mom - she also died from AML - she had CLL for 8 years, and we found out the day after she died that it had gone into AML probably only a few weeks before she died.

she was only 63 - I'm sorry for your loss - please feel free to reply to me.

thanks!
