Since August have experienced a little bleeding when having a bowel movement, also hurt a little. Went to the dr last week, thinking hemroids and she gave me an anal exam. She said she didn't see anything and told me to take Metamucil and Peri-Colis for 2-3 weeks, possible colitis. I don't seem to have any colitis symptoms, no diahrea. I didn't take the peri-colis as I am not constipated, however, I have been taking the fiber. Since taking the fiber have not had bleeding, but my anus has felt a little sore. I had blood test in July that came back "normal". What could be going on with me? How do I know this will not happen when my 2-3 weeks of fiber are up? Should I slowly stop taking the fiber? Please help.

Hi,
That is good that your tests came back normal. As far as stopping the fiber. If it agreeing with you, I would not stop it. Most doctors actually recommend taking fiber such as the metamucil daily. Make sure you drink lots of water with it. You can take fiber the rest of your life.
Are you bm's normal? Because fiber works for diarhea or constipation. Just make sure you drink the water or you can have trouble with the fiber.

Good Luck

The fiber seems to be going ok. I drink a ton of water and bm's seem to be normal. Just feel sore/burning and itchy "down there". I can't seem to understand what would have caused the bleeding and these symptoms, especially since my dr didn't seem to have any answers to the cause either. It seemed to happen out of nowhere one day. Have always been a pretty healthy person. Don't know if I should be concerened or get a second opinion. Feeling very confused.
