View Full Version : throat muscles get stuck when swallowing, restricting air

I had a strange experience about a month ago. The muscles in my throat kept seeming to close off my throat in the middle of a swallow (not when eating food or drinking). It was like my swallow was getting caught half way down my throat. I had to concentrate on making the muscles in my throat finish the swallowing motion, all the time with air flow being closed off. This lasted a few weeks. I did not have a sore throat. It felt like there was mucus or some swelling at the back of my throat. It was especially difficult when I tried to go to sleep. I had been waking up every half hour or so all night, for about a month. I concluded that the air blockage may have been waking me up. I am not sure if I am posting in the correct board - any suggestions? Thanks

Try looking on the GERD board at some of the posts about LPR, and see if that sounds like what you are experiencing.
