We had a great week away ... kids played with the 'Tash' the new Golden Labrador, the chickens (3 - the dog likes live chickens) :nono: , the cows, the tomato's are a bit sad as N is full time Mum with a part time job, and G is a full time chef in a new Cafe ... the Tomato's are somewhat neglected ...
But that's ok .. we had a good time anyway!! Who needs tomato's? LOL
We got there Tuesday afternoon, It was also raining, not enough to be useful, but enough to be a concern for the girls sleeping in a tent, so they voted to sleep in N's kids rooms. They have 3 boys, 7, 4 and 2.5 with No. 4 due in March sometime.
Wednesday we went into town by ourselves, I found lots of charity shops and Tamea finally got her hands on a pair of jeans she's been after and it only cost me $4 !!! We got a few other things, wandered around, and meandered back to the farm.
Thursday .. N and G were both at their jobs, we babysat the 7yo, whilst their other two children went to daycare. I drove to a neighbouring town all by myself with my girls. We found another charity shop :bouncing: , and of course, bought some stuff ... discovered some shops, bought some stuff, discovered another few shops .. and .. yeah .. you guessed it .. bought some stuff LOL.
Friday .. We had G home and N was at work, we went into the MAIN town and shopped and got more food and bits and pieces, it was pretty good. We then took the kids fishing and had lunch by the river. That was SO relaxing. Friday night we had an early Birthday Party for Tamea (who turns 13 on Oct 9)
Saturday .. We went to a Farmer's Market in the little town near them, discovered cows, Alpaca's (like llama's) sheep (with Bridles .. !!!) and local produce. Bought lots, saw bits, went shopping LOL ..... :D
Sunday .. G was back at work by this stage, so N and all of us went into the BIG town and wandered around the shops. N got her DVD burner working, so we were on the hunt for DVD covers.
Monday was a public Holiday for N.S.W. We stayed at home all day!!! Didn't move!! The weather was putrid - TOO hot .... the air conditioning went overtime! ;)
Tuesday .. home day ... G went to work taking his two little ones back to day care. N's sister, C came up with 2 of her 3 kids and we had a lovely lunch all together, which Cameron and C's boy, D put together for all of us. Then ... we grudgingly came home.
So.. I rang the nursing home, and got an odd response from them that MIL was "fine and lovely and settled" and that "she's been good since her first couple of days" .. which is just the complete opposite of what we've heard.
FIL's sister, Aunty P rang BIL to see "how things were" (off handed, she was a plant LOL) and found that MIL has been most UNSETTLED and HORRIBLE when people visit and leave ..(the thought of LEAVING HER ALONE didn't cross their minds, TYPICAL).. The ACAT assessment was finally done, but there's a hitch .. and I have no idea what's happening.
MIL is due out of Respite today. I will leave have to leave a message for ACAT to ring me back ASAP, and then ring the nursing home and find out from the Director of Care exactly how MIL has been ... I want to check her incontinence and it's level, because I said to BIL .. hmm .. LAST YEAR, that I will NOT do his mothers nappies. I showered his damn father and nursed him, and I ain't doin' it with his mother .. and, at that stage, HE AGREED .. Back then .....
Plus .. I got a letter in the mail yesterday that one of the Nursing homes in Bundaberg Queensland would employ me .. casual to start with, but then it's only a matter of time isn't it? I will embellish that job offer to make it look good to FIL and then WE ARE OUTTA HERE !!
I just broke the news to my mother, who is horrified I'll be even FURTHER away .. but understands that I have a career and need to follow it. I hope FIL is just as sincere. If not, then I have the argument that if he expects me NOT to follow my chosen career, then he can just do without NOW.
One of my fellow students, tonight, offered me her 'downstairs' house if need be. Isn't that sweet?
Hugs to you my friends ...
Sally
