My three month old baby has had a stuffy nose for probably a month now. The doctor said it was nothing to worry about. It got to the point where he was alternating between breathing through his nose and mouth and snorting with each breath. We were told to use a steam shower, salt water nasal spray, or a humidifier. The steam shower with aspiration after seems to work the best. The nasal spray works a bit, but I hate using it because he gets so panicky as he swallows the snot and acts like he can't breath. I asked about allergies and was told by the pediatricians office that it's so rare in a baby this young that they don't even consider it. He has all the signs of allergies though...clear drainage, rubbing nose on everything to scratch it, red around eyes, sneezing a lot...etc. My husband and I both suffer from allergies and come from families that have bad allergies and have to get shots for them. Does anyone elses young baby have a stuffy nose all the time and/or know anything about allergies? Any other tips for keeping his nose clear? It disrupts his sleep as he can't breath well and gets all worked up about it.

Well, I don't know if it's allergies. WHen you say salt water nasal spray do you mean the kind where you give it a big squeeze and stuff shoots out. I would recommend using the saline drops and the bulb sucker thing. Do that a few times a day. It's only a few drops, not a big spray and will probably be less tramatic. I might see a 2nd doctor and see what they say. Good Luck...poor stuffy baby :(
