View Full Version : 7 month naps

Hi there. I was wondering for those of you who have little ones this age (or those of you who remember) How many naps a day is your child taking? And how long do they last?

DD is 7 months old and still taking a nap 3 times a day. She still has the cut off time of about 2 1/2 hours awake before she gets really cranky and wants to go back to sleep. Then she naps for about 45-1 1/2 hours. She sleeps for 12 hours at night.

I know all kids are different, but this is new to me. DS was at 2 naps a day by 5 months. And my baby books say that at this age they're down to 2 naps. Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this?

Thanks

Honestly, some kids like to sleep more then others....and some don't! I hate it when baby books have a "norm" when it comes to personaliity....because everyone is different, really. As long as your baby is healthy, eats well and sleeps through the night, don't stress about her napping too much :)

My daughter is 7 months old also and she takes two naps a day which usually last about 1 1/2 to 2 hours. She doesn't sleep through the night yet though. Also, she was a preemie born 2 months early. I'm not quite sure if that would make a difference. You are so very lucky that yours sleeps through the night though. Congrats!

My dd is almost 7 months also. Up until about 1 month ago, she was still doing 3 naps/day. Now she's down to 2 naps...1 between 9 and 10(depending when she wakes up) for approx. 1 1/2 hr. and the other is around 1 or 2 for 1 1/2-2 hours.

Mine is 6 months and has suddenly decided to try to give up napping. LOL. She sleeps great at night. Usually 10 hours or more. Last night she went to bed at 10 and woke up at 8:30. Here it is 3 pm and she is UNBELIEVABLY sleepy, but she won't go to sleep! She's not cranky, she's just rubbing her eyes constantly and can barely hold her head up. The only time she's getting mad is when I try to rock her or put her in her bed.

I don't know what to do.
