I hate it, too. The only way I can stand it is to mix it with kefir, which is a cultured milk product with a strong taste of its own that helps to mask the taste of the flax oil plus the flax oil gets suspended in the kefir so not as much of it actually makes contact with your tongue. This only works if you like kefir, of course.

Hi I have recently started taking flaxseed oil, too. But I actually like the taste of it.
Flaxseed oil has a very short shelflife, so #1, check the date,#2, keep it refrigerated, & #3 buy a good quality brand, and #4, don't buy more than you can use before the date goes by. When you buy it, it should also be refrigerated (at the store).
Flaxseed oil goes rancid fast (rancid oils taste awful). You can also try it mixed with vinegar as a salad dressing. I just take it straight. The first couple of times, I didn't really like the oil taste in my mouth, but the actual flavor is rather fruity/nutty, so it actually isn't bad tasting. And it has helped with my dry eye, so what the heck!

I think I must have gotten a couple of older bottles at first because they tasted awful too. This last bottle (even though the same brand) doesn't taste bad. But - if you like applesauce, I used to get some of that and mix the Flax oil in it and then you couldn't taste it anymore. Do try to stick with it though because the benefits are awesome.

So, what are the other benefits? Since I was only taking it for dry eyes.
Haven't been taking it that long, so what else should I be noticing?
Thanks!

Hi Hellas
Actually, Flax oil is good for tons of things. Arthritis, high bp, your skin - just to name a few. Weird, but this last bottle I got doesn't taste bad like the other two I had. Doesn't seem as thick and oil for some reason.
Oh - and its good for menopausal symptoms and for your heart too.

Well, that's good....cause I've got all of that :D ! Except maybe the arthiritis..but I suppose that'll show up too one of these days. Certainly have lots of aches & pains & twinges!
Glad you found one that doesn't taste bad. I still rather like it. My skin actually does feel better & maybe the acne is less too.
Thanks for input.

Hellas,
My skin is remarkably better too. It's less oily and the acne cleared up too. Looks like it would be the other way around, doesn't it? I am only take a teaspoon a day of the oil since I"m taking the Fish oil complex too.
