I got a call from my Primary doctor's nurse yesterday morning. Out of the blue. I'd inquired about a cortisone shot when I was at the primary doctor's office a couple of weeks ago to monitor Neurontin. She said she would as the orthopedic doctor and get back to me. Since I never heard back, I figured that was a no.
The orthopedic surgeon had asked if I wanted one when I saw him at the end of August and before Mayo visit. When asked, the orthopedic surgeon told my primary that a cortisone shot would delay or interrupt healing process.
I guess I don't understand as this so called healing process has shown no sign of healing progress since last May. The amitriptyline isn't helping yet. My doctor took me off the Neurontin because of the blurred vision side effect and prescribed amitriptyline. I am also taking 600 mg of ibuprofen about every 7 hours during the day. I wear a splint at night. I never did before surgery. And I tried not wearing splint for chores this week, wondering if splinting was interfering with the healing. My hand burns at the end of the day , I am going back to wearing a splint for chores too.
