Here are my symptoms:

*naseau (for a few hours that results in throwing up once or twice and it goes away)
*extremely sore throat
*mild fever (99.0)
*body aches (paticularly my lower back and legs)

Is this a cold or flu? I'm thinking flu though. How do you tell?

Sounds like a cold. fI don't beleive any documented cases of the Flu actually has hit yet.
Influenza's symptoms are a lot worse. Higher fever, chills, sweating, weakness. When you have the flu you actually pretty much don't even have the physical strength to barely get out of bed.
Cold make you feel awful, but you can usually still function.

I don't think you have a cold or the flu - it sounds more like a stomach virus / gastroenteritis. Colds don't cause you to throw up, nor does the flu. The only thing mildly "cold" like that you have is the sore throat which could very well be from the throwing up. The body aches, fever, nausea and throwing up all point to a stomach bug. If that's what it is, the throwing up should stop very soon though you may be left with a fever and aches still - and a sore throat from the throwing up (acidic).
