and I'm REALLY nervous!!! Went to see a new psychiatrist today and she prescribed Lexapro 10mg for my anxiety/panic. I'm to take a half pill for the first 6 days and see how I'm feeling and may try taking a whole pill if needed.
I'm extremely nervous as I'm terrified of the SSRI's but my anxiety has gotten out of hand and I need something to help me through it. I have therapy tomorrow afternoon so I hope he'll help me feel better about it too.
I just want to be able to play outside with my daughter and take her to the park during the day and shopping and things like that again. I haven't done that in SOOOO long. Just to be able to drive by myself would be great. I'm working on that in therapy too.
Wish me luck....and I apologize in advance for the upcoming posts if I'm having a tough time. I understand the next few days may be rough, but I hope not. Thanks for listening!!

Good luck, Sarah. I think you'll be happy with the lexapro. Just stick it out and give it time to work. I suggest taking it in the evening also.

I haven't taken it yet. My doctor suggetsted I start taking it in the morning and then switch to nighttime if I need to. She didn't think it would make me too sleepy but from what I've read about it, it seems to make most everyone very sleepy. I guess I'll wait and see how things go. I was hoping my husband could stay home today but he couldn't so I'm really nervous about taking it for the first time with just me and my daughter here. She's too little to help me if anything happens.
Well, I'm going to go make some breakfast and start my Lexapro....BIG step for me!

So far I don't notice any difference. I normally take my Xanax around 10-11am but I haven't needed that yet today. Thats kinda strange and of course making me second guess whether or not I need the Lexapro but I know I need it. My psychiatrist told me to expect to feeel lightheaded, have headaches and feel sick to my stomach. So far I just have the headache and lightheadedness but I have those everyday anyway so not sure if its the Lexapro or not.
Thanks for asking though, its nice to know others care! :)

If it makes you feel better, I am on week 3 of lexapro. I even upped the dose to 20mgs today and I have not had one single side effect..unless feeling great is a side effect :)

Sarah! Your expectations are realistic and ssris have helped a lot of people. Best wishes.
