View Full Version : crown still hurts

I posted here a while back about a new crown I had just received on one of my upper molars.

I hurt tremendously to bite on it at all. Per someone's advice I went back and had the bite adjusted. It now feels somewhat better, but I still cannot apply direct pressure on it. Chewing hard stuff on that side of the mouth is out.

Dentist says next step is root canal!!! I thought root canals were for people in extreme pain. My pain, like I said, is not extreme and is only present when I chew or bite down on the tooth. Is there possibly another alternative to this root canal??

I'm wondering, if you might need another "adjustment"? You said it helped somewhat the first adjustment. Perhaps another adjustment is in order before something more invasive. I hope you feel better soon. ALL my teeth are hurting at the moment due to bleaching sensitivity.

You should also ask your doctor about your gums, they might have to do minor gum adjustments.

Sometimes when the gum is overgrown over the crown, that can cause discomfort.

My general dentist perfomred an "electrography" (sp??) on my tooth before he put the permanent crown on. A periodontist was not needed since the adjustment was minor
