ever have a dull headache for days at a time....continuously?......once again, it seems Ill finally convince myself that a symptom or symptoms are"only anxiety " and not some terminal illness, and a new one takes its place and monopolizes my thoughts for several days! This sucks!!! going on 4 days with this headache and nothing touches it as far as aspirin.

Hi JKDR1,

I have headache, but they mostly come and go. I take tylenol and sometimes that helps, and sometimes, a cold cloth on my forhead helps too. Sometime coffee helps my headache go away and sometimes it makes it worse! Not too much help, am I.

You might want to call your dr. or go and see him/her. If your headache is not gone by the time the doctor office opens today, I would make an appt.

Sorry, that I am not that much help. So far, my headaches have not lasted that long!

Take care. Wannabe

Hi JKDR1 - Yes, I have had headaches that go on for days. They are almost always one sided, with most of the pain at the base of my neck and in my neck. They are (obviously to everyone who is not a hypochondriac like me!) tension headaches, and the more I worry about them, the worse they get. I refuse to take any tylenol or pain relievers (more hypochondriac stuff - my dad has terminal liver disease, so I fear damaging my liver all the time), but I find that alternating ice and moist heat is as helpful as anything else. I am lucky enough to stay home with my kids (six boys! - hmmm, maybe there's a cause for a tension headache, and not the brain tumor I fear!!??) so it makes it fairly easy for me to do the ice/heat thing, but if you are working, you might look into cold presses and those heat patches that they sell at walmart. I have a girlfriend who keeps the cold packs in a little six pack cooler under her desk at work. Worth a try - and try not to worry about it, but do see the doc. if you get no relief. It will put your mind at ease, and that may be all you need. Best wishes, Marirose

i get that from time to time. mine are also caused by tension/sinus. usually they will go away for a little while after a good nights sleep but then they come back later in the day. No over the counter med seem to work to stop them. sometimes putting a heating pad on the back of my neck helps a little.

I had one that had lasted for 3 months! It sucked!! It started out being a tension headache. Went to the doc and told her all about what had been going on. She decided to put me on effexor xr and xanax for the anxiety. Then she put me on tylenol 3 and a muscle relaxer. Didn't go away and didn't go away. The tylenol 3 helped keep it where I could handle it but it still didn't go away!! Went through all kinds of testing to find out what in the world was wrong with me. I went to an opthamologist! That answered my problems. Nothing was wrong with my eyes. He told me that it was actually a tension headache! Anti-anxiety and anti-deppresants can make your eyes dileate (sp?). It doesn't cause any long term damage to your eyes but, it was just enough to keep that darn headache going! I quit the effexor xr that week! Now, my head pain is completely gone!!!!! My anxiety is still here but, I will take that any day over a headache. When your head is hurting for so long, other parts of your body start hurting also. Like your back and shoulders and oh my gosh, I just didn't want to deal with my hubby or kids!!! I will take the anxiety and learn how to deal with it somehow. I still have xanax that is helping me when I really need it.

Thought my story my help some of you!
Goodluck!!!!
