Just thought I'd write a 'quickie' to say 'hi' and tell ya that I'm still not quite out of the woods yet (this %§$&$% compass has been on the blink for a while now!).
Today is my 2 week 'anniversary' since the bottom, right temp filling was put in. It hurt then and still hurts now (just to chew on though). Also, top right temp filling (done March 27th) is still sensitive to cold. But at least the pain doesn't linger...... good sign..... right? Oy! It SEEMS to be getting better little by little. But then again, maybe I'm fooling myself. I'm just not chewing on that side anymore! I'm trying the side with the re-done root canals. I guess the up side is that I've lost 2 lbs. The re-done root canals can't really seem to take too much pressure either. What a mess.
Ok..... I feel better now just griping! You haven't posted for a while so I would imagine that you're doing ok so far (Remember: Be vewy, vewy qwiet!). I've still got my fingers crossed (for both of us) but I tell ya.... it's been quite the challenge to type this!
Take care!

Hey!
Glad to see you're still hangin' in there! Same s**t, different day here.
Hubby still needs to get his dental work done, but the other day, he saw a baseball at the side of the road in the left turn lane so he leaned out of the car door to get it while waiting on the light, and his glasses fell out of his pocket. He didn't notice till he got home. By the time we got back over there, they were pretty thrashed, so another bill later for glasses and we're no closer to being able to afford getting his teeth done! I have to ask you if you have any trouble with your night guard. Half the time I'm waking up without it. I have to search the bed clothes to find it. I'm not sure if I'm spitting it out, or physically removing it! Have you had that problem? If so, how do you remedy it? Just a little stuff to keep you up to date---have a good one!
Karla---PS~I seem to automatically be logged in here anymore-no more annoying typing my name and password. Does that just happen when you become a senior member, or what?

Hi tundra!
Ya know something.... for a long time I was able to log in without having to type in my name and password! I thought it was great! Just recently though (the last 2 times I've posted), I'm back to having to type it all back in! Go figure. I'm not sure what's going on.
I'm sorry to hear about your hubby and his glasses. That sure was an expensive baseball wasn't it? Does his insurance cover new glasses or can he only get glasses once a year (I used to have insurance like that)? In Germany, the lenses are expensive but the frames are just outrageous (but they ARE pretty different)!! And how about your hubby's dental insurance? I know you have to wait until it kicks in in a few months but will it cover the work he needs done now?
As far as my mouthguard goes.... I haven't had any problems with it. It's a thin piece of plastic that snaps onto my lower teeth. Unless I close my mouth, I don't feel it at all. So I don't take it out in my sleep (Otherwise, hubby would have woken up with it on a few times I'm sure!). You may be taking it out as you sleep.
Funny thing.... Yesterday, we took a little snooze in the afternoon 'cause the weather here was just crappy. After the snooze, I woke up with the worst 'toothache' ever! Now, since my hubby and I have booked a trip back to Canada (we need a bit of a break!) and are leaving in 4 days (on the 27th), I figured that this was par for the course. Just my luck to have something go wrong with my teeth just before leaving. I was surprised it didn't happen closer to the date though! Anyway, being Sunday, my dentist wasn't open so I would have to wait until Monday (today). Well, little by little the pain subsided. As the pain decreased, I was able to pin point better where the pain was coming from. It was the (jaw) joint on the right hand side! Then I remembered, I forgot to put in my nightguard before I took my snooze! I must have been grinding and chomping to beat the band! The pain is totally gone today (better not say that too loud!) and I'm quite relieved! Hopefully you'll be able to get used to your guard eventually. It'll probably take some persistence though. I'm finding they really do help a lot!
My fillings still are a bit sensitive. I'm hangin' in there though. Still the same story. Top right molar (done 3 weeks ago) sensitive to cold... bottom right molar (done 2 weeks ago) still sensitive to chewing (pressure from food... not from biting down). I'm hoping it will 'go away'! I keep telling myself that it could take up to 6 months to heal. At least that's what I'm told. As long as the pain doesn't linger, I figure the nerve is ok. I'm not usually the most patient person so this having to wait is pretty difficult!!
Hope you're doing ok. In a few days I'll be on the same continent as you! On the 27th, look north.... I'll be waving as I touch down in Toronto! Can't wait!
Take care!

Hey!
Lucky you! A trip would be great about now, but with all dental the bills, probably not happenin' this year. I was in Canada back in '71. We were at a place called (I think) "Glacier Lake". It was just beautiful--you could lean right out of the bedroom window of the cabin we were in and pick fresh raspberries off the bush. Saw my first (and only!) moose. Such a nice trip--too bad I was a 14 year old brat and didn't really appreciate how wonderful it really was! The insurance delay ONLY applies to me because of when we were married, so it becomes effective the beginning of July at our 1 year anniversary, and it's just for dental (just my luck!!). Optical, however, isn't covered at all under this plan, so we were on our own for that. Fortunately, that is so competitive, you can get away pretty inexpensively. I'm Scottish, therefore "frugal" (aka CHEAP) by nature, so after shopping around, we went with one of the 2 complete pair for 49.99 deals. He looks good in them, and most importantly, sees well. He was due for a script change anyhow---this just forced our hand! Well, any way, too far off topic now (sorry to the moderator!), but you have a great time, get in some relaxation, and post me a pic if you can! I'll be looking to the north and waving! Bye for now---Karla
