Hi

I’ve had BPPV for over 4 years now – sometimes worse than others. Just recently I’ve had a number of really bad days and I’m rapidly getting to the end of my tether. My Dr has tried the Epley on a couple of occasions but nothing happened so I just carry on coping as best I can. When it gets really bad I take some beta-histine but that doesn’t really do a lot. I’ve tried doing the exercises at home but that doesn’t seem to have any effect either – I never seem to be able to bring on a spin………..only when I really don’t want one!!!! I was wondering whether anyone had any luck with any alternative therapies – if I can’t find any other way I really think I may even consider surgery cos the thought of being like this for the rest of my life is just too depressing. Thanks for your help.

Hi....I've had it for over 39 years...it comes and goes. I now have it in both ears -- once in my left ear for almost 3 years 24/7. It finally went away, and I still have some slight symptoms occasionally.

Surgery is a drastic measure, for there's still no guarantee you won't have permanent symptoms.

Are you saying you have 24/7 symptoms in the past 4 years?

Are you moving about normally or favouring your movements?

Do you sleep on the affected side at all? I don't favour anything, even when I'm symptomatic.

The Epley...did it work afterward....it's not a permanent solution...only for when one is symptomatic.

What ear is affected?

What exactly are your symptoms?

Lots of questions I know..

I also understand how depressing this can be....
