I have been taking 300mgs of Dilantin for six months after having a brain injury. About a month after being on the medication I developed beathing problem though my nasal passages. I have to wear a breathe right strip 24/7 if I want to breath out of my nose. About a month ago I noticed that I couldn't get a full breath into my lungs also. My doctor said it wasn't a reaction to the drug and upped my dosage to 400mgs a day. Now I'm getting panic attacks. My speech is always slurred. Does anyone know if the medication is doing this to me or if it's all in my head.

yes, I had one about three weeks ago. But that has been the only one.

Have they done any drug levels? Also, a referral to an eye-ear-nose-throat guy might be a good idea...I hate when docs blow off when someone says they've noticed something after starting a med, and then up the dose without at least checking it out. People know their own bodies the best.
