hey, i think i have a problem here...about 2 weeks ago i was eating lunch and got this awful taste in my mouth, it tasted, well for lack of a better term, like $h!+ :( it really did...i mean i've never tasted the stuff before but this has to be what it tastes like. Anyway i didnt think much of it i just thought i'd brush my teeth especially good when i got home and use some listerine...well the taste never quite went away.
I usually notice the taste while chewing my food. it isnt as strong as it used to be but it still bugs me b/c i'm always concerned that i have bad breath. I can sometimes notice the taste when i lick the outside of my gums between the gum and upper lip in the back of my mouth. Any help would be appreciated. I always brush my teeth and have been doing so even more now that i noticed this. I wear retainers at night but they i brush them every morning when i take them out of my mouth and always have done so. I dont know exactly what hallatosis (spelling) is but could this be it? isnt it when your breath smells like your rear end? thanks

Such a bad taste in your mouth could indicate a bad case of peridontal disease or an abcess that opened up. But, and this is an important but, it can sometimes be an indicator of another illness. If you haven't been to the dentist lately, you should go and have them take a look. If they don't find anything, you need to see your family doctor.
In the event that you had some dental work done in the last couple of weeks. It's possible that the novacaine which your given has pooled in your tissues and is now releasing into your mouth. It tastes pretty nasty.
