I recently had my lower back left tooth pulled. When pulling it broke in two,but all went ok.Since I've had the tooth pulled I can hardly open my mouth wide enough to eat.My upper cheek bone is very sore and this is almost three weeks after the pulling.Any suggestions as to whats happening? Thanks,Paul

You say the tooth being removed was way in the back? The first idea I have is that the dentist may have dislocated your jaw while he was trying get the tooth out. It will eventially get better, but it can take awhile. Try Asprin or Motrin for pain and swelling along with an ice pack on the sore area for fifteen minutes on fifteen minutes of. Eat foods that are reasonably easy to chew.

Another possibility is an infection of your jaw bone, an infection will usually be accompanied by a low fever and sometimes a bad taste in your mouth. If you suspect an infection, you need to go to the dentist or doctor right away.

I just read your post after posting mine. I too am having trouble with my jaw. It has only been 3 days, but it still hurts!! I had all four decaying wisdom teeth pulled, but one broke during the process and had to be cut out. How long is the healing process suppose to take? How are things going for you?
