View Full Version : How many visits?

Just this passed year I started going to a new dentist and I think of him as a good dentist but I have one question.
I have to go for many visits. One for my cleaning, then for if I have any cavities on the upper right part of my mouth, then if I have any cavities on the lower right part, then upper left, then lower left, and so on. I dont know if it's just so busy for him during the day or the quadrants because of the novicaine, or what but it's pretty frusterating having to make several trips (many days) just to have a few cavities filled. Is this how most dental places operate or for any particular reason? Thanks for any info! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif
Take care,

Lori, most dentists prefer to do one quad of the mouth at a time for several reasons actually. One being the novacaine, and another that your mouth can be very tender after having dental work done, so they try to keep one side working great so you can still chew normally. Hope this helps. I'm sure others can tell you more, but from my experience that's why we normally do it that way. Have a great day!

If you explain it to the dentist, he should be able to accommodate you. I live about 45 minutes away from my dentist, so he tries to make sure I don't have to come back unless it's really necessary.
