View Full Version : darkening teeth after orthodontics applied

I recently had porcelein braces attached last Monday. Since then, I've noticed my teeth look a little darker, and it looks as if the enamel is gone after my orthodontist applied them.

Am I just imagining this or does this happen after braces are applied? I drink around 2 cups of coffee each morning, and then water the rest of the day.

Thanks for any insight!

I had the same problem! I had those metal braces. I personally think yes the dentist does take the enamel off your teeth because he takes this drill and takes the cement thingy off!
My teeth are more withist now because I use a good tooth paste. Try one with baking soda!
Good luck!

A little knowledge is a dangerous thing. Your teeth look darker because less light is able to shine through them. Once the braces are removed all will be back to normal. If you have poor oral hygiene then you might see some staining but thats in your hands. The worst and best teeth I have seen both had braces on, its up to you.
