What is the best thing to put on an ingrown fingernail, I have used some peroxide to clean it, is there anything special to do.

I cut my nails way too short this time and now the one nail is all messed up, my nails do tend to grow sideways and not straight up also.

Peroxide to be sure it isn't infected, then antibiotic ointment to be sure it doesn't get infected. You might try soaking it in very salty water. this will soften the nail plate and sometimes push the ingrown portion upwards so you can cut it away.
