Good Morning!
My DD is almost 4 months old (This coming Friday). I just thought it would be fun to share experiences to this point - my DD is rolling over from her stomach to her back now during the night - it wakes her up. She has slept on her stomach since she was born (Yea I know!) but it was the only way she would sleep....She is sucking her hands non-stop. The DR said she is starting to get teeth. To me this is early - does anyone have a DD or DS who is doing the same? Now she seems to try to roll from her back to her stomach....she was sleeping from 9:30-7:30 every morning - but this past week she must have had a stomach bug that got her (along with the teeth issue) and she seems off her sleep schedule....she was eating about 33 ounces a day and now it seems she doesn't want to eat as much.....for the most part she smiles all the time and seems to be doing quite well. What kind of experiences are each of you having and how are your children coming along? I just thought it would be fun to share.....

My DS is almost 4 months old as well, and has quite the little personality. He smiles non stop, and laughed for the first time last week during his bath. He loves to watch The Price is Right for some reason...lol. And he has recently started rolling, last week it was from his back to his tummy, and now he can roll from his tummy back onto his back. He's a really good sleeper, and an excellent eater! He's just a fun little guy!

Andilyn - Did he roll over from both sides right around the same time? She started from stomach to back - but only can get as far as her side going from back to stomach. I am sure it will happen soon - but she spends more time on her belly - I should give her more back time.....Does your Son get rice cereal yet?

DS is 4 months old today. And a little behind. He giggled once last week in his sleep. He can "squeal in delight" but no giggles. He rolled over from stomach to back on accident one day, he was trying to watch me as I stepped around him. I doubt he will ever roll over as laying on the floor is very tragic to him. He is always smiling. Loves his jonnhy-jumpup and exersaucer. He got his first cold on Thursday and has been miserable ever since. I feel so bad for him. He sucks on anything he can get in his mouth and bits down, so I think teeth may be coming. (But he has down this for 2 weeks now) He has been eating rice cereal for about 3 weeks now. So I am thinking we are getting ready to try something new. Although I am a little unsure what to start when and how much and how aften. He drinks about 5 ozs every 3 hrs. And lately he has not been as hungry although he eats just not as crazy fast as he used to.

Hi gals,
It's neat that we have all jumped over from the pregnancy boards. I remember complaining there b/c I couldn't fall asleep until midnight! Ha! What I would give to sleep straight from midnight to 5:30 now!
Liam is 14 weeks old now. He is having a serious love affair with his hands which are always in his mouth. He is drooling a ton too so I wonder if we might have an early teether as well. I can see him trying to roll from back to tummy and he has almost done it a few times. His smiles are plentiful yet naps are still in short supply. It's ironic to me that I went and had a baby who is addicted to car rides during the summer when gas prices are at an all time high! It is really the only way to get him to sleep. Oh well, at least I live in coastal Maine so there is plenty of good scenery as I drive.
Baby and dad are playing "where's the baby" now in the other room. This game consists of us holding some piece of fabric above him and swooshing it by his face as we say "Where's the baby?". He loves it. The funny thing is if we put the cloth in front of one of our faces and say "where's mummy or daddy" he screams. I guess he hasn't figured out that our faces being covered doesn't mean we are gone.
So, this is fun, and the hardest thing I have ever done. Let's keep writing. It makes the hard times easier!
Hasta la vista,
Jen

I agree with the comment that this is fun - yet the hardest thing I have ever done. My only complaint is that DH doesn't have the patience I have for her. She was sleeping through the night almost for like 3-4 weeks straight and then she got this stomach bug and now is waking up at 4AM every morning. She is hungry. We are switching nights getting up with her but DH gets mad about it. I spent the first 3 months of her life sleepless and then when I returned to work - the week before, she started sleeping from like 9-7 every night in to every morning. I was amazed. I ended up getting one rotten cold and told him a couple of weeks prior to that - that if I didn't start getting sleep - I was going to get sick.....well I did. (You can imagine that I still wasn't allowed to get more sleep!) So now 3 weeks later after I got the cold, I am still not feeling well. Yikes.
She is putting her hands together - squeeling all the time - almost like yelling - but she smiles. She kicks her legs all around - loves her bouncy chair now...(never did in the beginning of life....eats I swear all the time. She can eat about 5-6 ounces every 3-4 hours. I have started giving her rice in her bottle before bed....she loves all the funny noises that mommy makes at her when we are changing her diaper etc. She will stay in her crib for about 15-20 minutes with out getting upset while listening to her mobil above her. Tries to roll over from back to belly - but hasn't made it. Can go the other way no problem, this wakes her at night also. She was a little Colic when born and that seems to have gone to the way side now - that caused a lot of crying and discomfort - I am glad that is behind us now. But the smiles when I pick her up at Daycare are so very worth it!!!

Hi Suecampbellbill:
Yes my ds rolled from back to tummy, and then back to his back around the same time. But he too spends a lot of time trying to roll off his tummy, but get's up on his side more, so the rolling onto his back is the newest thing that he can do, but hasn't quite mastered doing it everytime yet. And he is on rice cereal, has been for about a month or so. He just wasn't getting full enough with the formula...he eats a lot! But he loves his cereal, and does great with it. By the way, he was born June 23rd, wasn't your DD born around the same time?

my daughter is now 11 weeks old and she rolled from her stomach to her back about a week ago.. boy was i so excited..lol.. anyways i find lately that she is irritable and usually she is a very happy baby lately she is sucking on her fingers which makes her spit up of course or she is sucking on her fists or hauling and sucking on her shirt.. im wondring if she is teething but like i say i thought that that would be too young to be cutting teeth..

Hi andilyn: My ds was born on the 27th of June...so were only four days behind you. :D
I can't believe how big Justin has gotten in such a short amount of time. He just started to actually giggle a few days ago. Before that it was screams, smiles and squeals. His hands are his favorite toy right now, and he'll sometimes take a break from his and chew mine.
He rolled from belly to back the day before he turned 3 months. He's extremly close to rolling back to belly, but hasen't quite gotten it.
He loves going out places, and is a complete angel everytime. (I hope he stays like this) He seems to be a lot like his daddy...laid back and go with the flow.
He got his first formal pictures last week. They came out really good! He was very well behaved, and smiled when needed.
He eats 6 ounces every three hours, except at night, where he sleeps from 8 untill about 5, then takes a bottle and goes back to sleep untill around 8. He wakes up in such a happy mood....never crying....he laughs and plays with his toys untill I go and get him.
I'm glad to hear everyones babies are doing well. It neat that were all experiencing the same milestones at the same time.
I'm really hoping he'll be crawling for Christmas!

Karen62705: My DD was born 6-24-05...so we are close also. She would sleep for a long time too and wake up just as happy....now - she is eating at 4AM - not sure why. She loves her hands also....it's either her putting them together in delight or her trying to get her fist in her mouth. I hope we can continue this series to see how each of them are doing, that way we know what to expect or look for in our own....
I think this is great!

After reading all of your posts, I have a developmental question for you all.
Should I be worried if my guy can't roll back to front yet? As I said in my post, he seems to be trying and motivated but can only manage to twist at the middle which makes him laugh.
I have a feeling that this is ok but I'd love to hear from you.

My little guy will be four months on the 27th, and he can't roll back to tummy yet, only Tummy to back. Does yours go tummy to back?
He does the same thing as far as the twisting thing goes....he's soooo close to going all the way over.....I know he COULD do it, but he stops himself.

I will certainly continue with this thread. I also think it's great to talk with others with babies so close in age. And ours are only 3 days apart...so that is really awesome.
I have always heard Boys are a little slower then girls, so it will be interesting to see when our 2 hit their milestones!
I look forward to talking to you all!

Hey Jen!
I wouldn't be worried about your little guy. It sounds like he is so close to doing it as it is, and my dr has always told me that as long as they are trying, than it's nothing to be concerned with. I'm sure he'll do it anyday now, that's what happened with mine, he tried and tried, and then out of nowhere he did it.

How is everyone doing with getting their DS or DD to sleep through the night? If they are - what are you doing and how long are they sleeping? If they aren't - what have your tried. If they were and aren't now, how are you managing it now?

Well in my case I started a bedtime rountine from day 1. I call it our 3 B's....Bath, Bottle, Bed. I have also always put pajamas on him, so he'll associate his footie pajamas with going to sleep. I keep it dark, and play soft classical music.
For the first three months when he woke up and was sleeping in the basinet I would get him out, give him a bottle, and put him right back in the basinet, I didn't talk much, and kept it dark and peacefull.
Right before he turned 3 months I put him to bed in his crib  That was really hard for me to do. I decided bedtime would be at 8, so we began our 3 b's around 7:15. After his bath, and P.J's I rock him with a bottle. He has ALWAYS been awake when I put him in his crib. Very rarely he cries for a few minutes then puts himself to sleep. He perfers his fingers over a binky at night..which is great because I don't have to keep popping the fingers back in.
The first night in the crib he slept from 8 untill 5...his longest stretch ever! I gave him a bottle at 5 and he went back to sleep untill 8. This has not changed since then. 8-5 bottle, back to sleep till 8...one time he slept till 9! That was a great treat for mommy! :D
I think the routine part is very important. Babies thrive on knowing what comes next, and DS is starting to understand the rountine.
I have heard of babies sleeping through the night for weeks, then suddenly waking up....i'm hoping this won't happen with us. I am starting to enjoy sleeping for more then an hour at a time.

I have a dd who was born 6/19. She is all about her hands and drooling. She has been teething since about 2 and a half months. She is breastfed and eats about every 3 hours. I feed on demand so she sleeps for about a five hour stretch at night and then wakes up to nurse and then will sleep for another 3-4 hours.
She actually giggled early and will laugh now when we do silly things for her or if she really likes a certain toy. She has not rolled over yet but seems sometimes like she is trying to. I have not been able to give her a lot of tummy time because she does not like it. She prefers to be sitting up in my arms. She doesn't like to lay down a lot anymore.
I was wondering if the moms with babies who are rolling over already gave thier babies a lot of tummy time??
I was also wondering if any of the other breastfeeding mothers can share when they think they will start with rice formula or starter infant foods?? I was going to wait till 6 mos. And also what about vitamin supplements?? Are you using any for the baby and are you still taking any prenatals while nursing?? Thanks!!

DS is not sleeping through the night. He is bottle fed. For awhile he was doing 6 hrs and then 3 hours. He wants to go down 7:30and 8:30. He usually is begging to go to sleep. We put in his swaddle blanket, he still will not sleep with out it. And put his pacifier in his mouth and he has a favorite blanket now that he wants right by his face or over it. (The minute we put this blanket by and slightly over his face he closes his eyes and will go to sleep when tired. I know it is not the safest thing but he wants it.) So we put him like this in his bassinet and he goes to sleep on his own. He wakes up in about 4-6 hrs for a bottle and after that every 3. We have tried everything to get him to go longer but with no luck. I am not willing to try the CIO approach.

Mine was sleeping through the night for about 3-4 weeks and just recently started waking up. Now last night she woke every hour on the hour. I think it's the teeth issue. She has a slight fever too. (Not high - only about 100.8) but she sleeps on her stomach - and so she was rolling over now for the past couple of weeks....just can't quite make it from back - to stomach. No giggles yet....but she is trying. Loves her hands and drools all the time.

My DS also loves his hands, they are always in his mouth. So it was funny to read how the rest of you wrote about your's doing the same thing. He is also fascinated with his big sister. She's 2, and is constantly on the go, so it's good entertainment for him. He'll just stare at her and smile and watch her run wild. He slept through the night one time so far, but his normal nights are going to sleep around 10ish, he's a night owl, and getting up around 4:30 when the alarm goes off for my hubby, and then he eats, and usually goes back to sleep for another 3 hours or so. So I really can't complain, he's on an excellent routine. And I agree with Karen62705, starting them on a routine asap is the best thing. They really pick up fast on it. And my DD is on such a consistent bedtime routine that she knows exactly what happens every single night, and if we forget to do one thing, she let's us know. Hope everyone is doing well with their babies, they are soooo much fun, and hard work too!

Hey Everyone...My DS is going to be 4 months tomorrow!! :bouncing: I am so glad everyone is doing well and is on the Infant Care board...It's weird that we used to be on the pregnancy board waiting for our DS or DD to come...and now we are all finally parents!!
My DS has been rolling over from tummy to back for about 2-3 weeks now, but he hasn't rolled over from back to front yet...He can get on his side but that's it...
He LOVES to eat...I never knew a baby could eat this much!...He eats 8oz. every 2-3 hours!!(Yeah I know..) And he has been eating cereal now for about 2 weeks(my doctor said to wait, but just formula didn't satisfy him) So he eats that for breakfast, lunch and dinner along with 6oz. of formula!! And this week I tried some Sweet Potatoes and he couldn't get enough of them! I had to scoop it so fast my arm started to hurt!! So like I said...He LOVES to eat!! :D
He loves to watch tv...I try not to let him watch to much of it because I don't want him to get to used to it, and want to watch it all the time...And he loves to giggle and laugh and sometimes he will squeel in his sleep!! He also loves to be outside. He is really fasinated by all the colors and everything around him. And he loves bath time!!
He has been teething for almost a month now...I think it's very early but the doctor told me all babies are different...Two of his teeth are starting to poke though, so he has been a little bit cranky  ...And his hand has become his new best friend...If thats not in his mouth something else is!! :D
Lucky for me he sleeps through the night!! :bouncing: He normally goes to bed at 10:00 or so and doesn't wake up until about 8:00, so that is very nice...But I made the mistake of letting him sleep with me(oops!) :nono: so now he can't sleep without me, so when he goes to sleep during the day I have to put a pillow by him so it's like I am there  ...I know I shouldn't of, but I just love to be right next to him, and know that he is alright...
He weighs 17 and 1/2 pounds already!! And is 27 and 3/4 inches long!! So he is a very big boy!! LOL!! The doctor told me he is in the 95th percential for weight and 90th percential for his height!! But I love him for the way his is. :D
I hope everyone is doing well

And also how are all you guys doing with your weight(taking it off)? I weighed a whopping 220 pounds when I went into labor  I was HUGE...I gained about 60-70 pounds!! I have lost 65 pounds of it already and can fit into all my pre-pregnancy clothes...Besides so of my shirts, because they are a little short and I don't want anyone seeing my stretch marks...

Hey Guys! I hope ya'll remeber me, I am so glad that everyone's babies seem to be doing well!
Anyway, my little man will be four months on Sunday! i can't beleive it, I keep looking at him in the swing and how he is so long his feet hang out, and remembering that when we brought him home it swallowed him whole!
Anyway, mine can roll over, but has no desire what so ever to! Unless it is from back to belly so he can sleep. He has slept on his side since the day he was born, we had trouble in the hospital when he kept choking, he swallowed a lot of fluid, and they rolled him on his side for safety and he wouldnt' go back. But anyway, I surely wouldn't worry if your baby can't roll over yet, it is more likely that they just don't want to! Anyhow, he has been teething for almost two months, and I know that is early, but he is! My best friends little girl started teething at 3 weeks and had a tooth at 2 months, so it is possible! And one of my little cousins had three teeth by four months, his Mom had to quit breast feeding because of it!
Anyway, we started rice cereal at about 2 1/2 months, you are really supposed to wait until 4 months but he had colic so we decided to try anything! And it helped, alot! And he started sleeping through the night. However, I had to sleep on the couch holding him. But, hey at least I got to sleep!
We started oatmeal a month later, he loves that! We tried squash on Wednesday, but that did not go over well! It upset his tummy and he didn't care for it! So, we decided to wait a while. I am not sure how much we are supposed to feed him with that either, or if we are still supposed to give him a bottle with it.
I do know this though, you should start with the food that is the worst tasting, like the squash, then go to something like beans or peas. If you feed them fruit or something sweet first they won't ever want the veggies, or at least most babies!
Good Luck everyone!

My DS loves to be outside. He relaxs as soon as we step out there and mellows out so much. If he gets upset we just walk outside with him.
As to weight gain. . . I gained almost 60 lbs. And I have about 10-15 lbs to go yet. I feel like I am making no progress. Some of my pre-pregnancy clothes fit but not all. I was trying really hard to lose the weight but lately I have given up. But this week I am going to go back to trying.
DS favorite sound to mak,e for the past 2 weeks, is a growl. It sounds so funny but he growls at everything. He loves to make the noise. What happened to those other noises???

He started giggling today. It is so cute. I love it. We went out to dinner with my family and after dinner my sister(9 yrs old) was jumping up and down and acting like a nut and he started giggling at her. It was so cute. And everyone was there and got to see it. It was so great we could all share it together. And then when we got home DH was playing with DS and he did it again. I feel like I have to call everyone and tell everyone. I am so proud of him and all he did was giggle. LOL

How are all you guys doing? I am doing great! But I haven't been sleeping that well...Because I am trying to break my DS from sleeping in my bed, so the last couple of nights have been a little hard, but it's my fault and it's better to do it now then later on...
I swear he gets bigger and bigger everyday! But I love him...
I was wondering if any of you guys go to those Mommy and Me type of classes? Cause I have thought about going, but I am not sure.

I was wondering if any of you guys go to those Mommy and Me type of classes? Cause I have thought about going, but I am not sure.
Justin and I attend Mommy and Me, through our church. We meet every Wednesday morning, for an hour. One week we meet at someones house, the next we meet at a park, or the zoo...etc Next week is the Halloween party, and the kids will all be in costume!
One night a month the moms only get togeather for dinner, while dad watches the kids. I haven't gone with them for this yet.
But it's lots of fun, and me and Justin have both made friends.
