View Full Version : Saline sonohystogram anyone?

Hi,

This is my first post here. I'm going for a saline sonohystogram to check for uterine polyps or endometrial thickening. Did anyone here ever have this done? Can you tell me what to expect? I'm pretty scared. Will I bleed afterwards? One website I found said yes. I have some pretty tough work assignments about a week afterward (on my feet all day) and need to be able to keep them or I can get sued as I just signed a contract with a client. I bled for weeks after a D&C because supposedly the doc nicked a polyp but didn't remove it. So I'm wondering if the same thing will happen with the sonohystogram. Any advice at all would be so appreciated.

Thanks,
Nornie

Hi Norie. I had the same procedure done about 3 weeks ago. I expected the worst, but it was really not bad at all. It was very quick, actually. It was uncomfortable, but I took 2 tylenols an hour before, and I was fine. I think you'll be fine -- it's really nothing to worry about.

Thank you so much for the reply! I appreciate the words of encouragement.

Nope, haven't gone yet. Turns out I can't get in till mid-November. So I'm very glad you write - puts my mind at ease since I now have a long wait. Thank you!

You can expect a little discomfort during, and relatively nothing afterward (if you take a couple of tylenol before hand). I had this test last month and it was much, much better than I expected. It isn't my idea of a fun afternoon, but it is completely tolerable. Don't worry!
