I'm a 22 year old female in good health but would like to start taking a multi vitamin. Any suggestions on what would be a good one to take would be much appreciated. I've seen so many lately that I dont know which one ...centrum? I'm just not sure. I noticed that my hair and nails are growing so slowly now days and I'm wanting my hair to grow out before my May wedding. Thanks in advance.

I asked my pharmacist that, they said it didn't matter, and if you look at the perctentages of goodness- they all pretty much the same stuff.. I have the womens' one. Look for a smaller easier to swallow pill.

Look into "Life Extension" brand of vitamins. I believe after a long investigation to find the 'best' for my money, etc, they are probably the best available.
good luck! I love the supplements, and feel much better for taking them!

I don't think Centrum are that good of vitamins. I've heard about how they don't get digested well. I'd look for a vitamin that doesn't have a bunch of fillers, binders, artificial ingredients.

maybe better absorbed but the B vitamin and vitamin C content will not be retained as capsule multis are never times released.

Hi,
I like to take multivitamins as I think they are really beneficial, but was discouraged after trying many times and having the huge horsepills make me feel nauseous all morning.
I have switched to a lovely chewable tablet by Centrum and it is actually made for seniors, but looking at the daily dosages I am getting plenty of what my body needs (I am 25) and I don't have to feel sick doing it!
My two cents.

I have been taking GNC "Mega Gold" Multi-Vitamin twice a day for about 4 months and I have noticed an increase in hair and nail growth!
The "Mega Gold" formula has extra b-vitamins which I attribute to the rapid growth.
I will mention this, since I have been taking this vitamin my urine is BRIGHT yellow (looks like gatorade! TMI sorry) and it has a really funky smell to it! Just a little FYI!
In addition, I also take 3000mg of Biotin each day. It is supposed to be exellent for hair and nail growth as well. I am always getting compliments on my shiny hair! It's amazing. My nails are very smooth and conditioned as well. :bouncing:

I'm taking Rainbow Light's Women's One Multivitamin. It's 100% natural and is supposed to be gentle on the stomach.
For a long time, I took stuff like "Women's One-A-Day" and lots of those other vitamins like Centrum, but they always hurt my stomach.
I've been taking this Rainbow Light's Women's One for about a week now, and for the first time in my life I actually feel like I have more energy. I also like that this vitamin has all natural stuff, greens, and digestive enzyme support.
(on top of that, I take Biotin, o3mega +joy, and Yerba Prima Daily Fiber)

Katie,
Okay, here's the deal if you want 100% quality and the UTMOST absorption...(and don't want to go broke!)
you DO want a tablet, and it SHOULD be time release. Also, there should be NO fillers! All water soluable vitamins- whether it's in liquid, capsule, or tablet form, that are NOT time release -are NOT fully utilized by your body. This won't hurt you, but you are going to be making expensive urine in the long run. :) Get the most out of your money, if you want all the vitamins/minerals listed on the side panel of your bottle, then make sure it's time release. You also don't have to pay an arm and a leg for these -- don't get random ones online, you can get them locally. ALSO -- about IRON, you do not necessarilly need it!! Just because you're a woman, doesn't mean, you're not getting enough in your diet. If you get one with iron, and you feel ill, exchange it at your store for one without iron...8 out of 10 times, that's where stomach upset from multi's come from. :)
Overall, if you take a liquid, or something along the lines of Centrum...it's better than nothing. People take these thinking they want something absorbed quickly. Truth be known, that doesn't help much of anything. The quicker it's broken down, the quicker your body passes it thru to your urine if you don't need all the potency at once :( ~whatever your body doesn't need at the MOMENT you take a cheaper vitamin like that, you pass right out...quickly!~
If you have questions, let me know!
*edited to add: The ones I take and am referring to also have a natural antioxidant fruit and vegetable blend as well!*
