I know i need ativan cause I have panic disorder, But does the antivert work better for vertigo? does it actually fix the ear problem or just keep you from puking..Im afraid to take them together. Stitcher317 10-10-2005, 11:50 PM I took Antivert for 1 yr when I was DX'd with VN. I truly believe it helps me. When I was really nauseous I also took Compazine. I still take it if I am going to ride on a train or down the mountain and I am not driving. I also take Ativan .5mg at bedtime or when needed if I am in a stressful situation. I am actually tapering off of this now as I want to see if I can handle the anxiety and panic I was getting with the dizziness. I have been on Ativan daily for over 2 yrs now. I never took more than 1mg a day. My head still spins but I don't know if it is from withdrawal from the Ativan or residual dizziness from VN. Guess time will tell. Another reason for getting off the Ativan. Ativan gave me back my life when the panic and anxiety set in but I now have chronic depression. Benzos can cause this. If the depression and apathy don't go away when I am finally off of it, I will probably go back on it since I am practically back to normal now. Supposedly, Ativan ,Valium, etc. are also prescribed to supress the vestibular system . I have an aversion to taking an SSRI for some reason. I can't handle the initial side effects and the weight gain issue. I wouldn't be afraid to take both. You may experience some sleepiness until you adjust to them. |
