Okay it's been three weeks. Like i mentioned in a thread below. This cough is still here but very minimal. It's almost like i cough when i talk too much or get into physical activity. The phlegm has gone down as well but i'm still clearing my throat a bit. Here is what i originally posted.
I'm very worried.
It started as a sore throat and then a cough with phlegm a few days later.
I went to the doc and he gave me naproxen for anti infection and anti inflammation telling me that my post nasal drip was cauing my throat infection.
I had yellow and green phlegm for 4 days and then started spitting up white/clear phlegm.
Now it's been almost a week with white/clear phlegm and the only times i need to cough are when phlegm builds up.
I feel it in my throat and when i inhale and exhale i feel something that bugs me near my throat. I never got any fevers or chest pain or nothing like that.
My cough can get pretty violent but i think it's because i'm trying to get the phlegm out.
I think i forced out too much phlegm at one point that it made my throat get irritated.
My question is, shouldn't have white phlegm have cleared or can it be something else?
I didn't get a fever and everyone around the city is getting sick with the same coughing and phlegm conditions.
I don't cough at night only when i wake up and i'll occassionally cough during the day.
I do cough when i start to laugh... which is weird...
can anyone help me?

Does anyone know what might be going on? Originally the doc said i had post nasal drip which i believe is low and i'm actually dripping a bit from my nose now.
What worries me is that this cough only happens when i get into some type of activity. Or if i talk too much or laugh....
Does this sound serious or do you think i might have something small that might need to be seen by a specialist?
I'm really scared...
I don't have fever or any chest pains or nothing like that.
Only cough with clear/white phlegm.
Thanks to anyone

Sometimes colds/coughs can really hang on.

First of all, I want to point out that naproxen isn't for infection. It's for pain and inflammation only. Perhaps I misunderstood your post, but I do want to clarify that naproxen isn't an antibiotic. It can be purchased over-the-counter, too.

Have you tried something to thin your mucous/phlem? It's likely that the phlem is causing some coughing, even if it's thinned. You need an expectorant like Mucinex or regular Robitussin. Both contain the active ingredient guiafenesin. Also, you need to drink A LOT of water. This products only work with plenty of water. By thinning the phlem with one of these products and drinking water, I'd think that you'd find some relief. It's worth a chance, anyway.

Thanks for the reply.
Last night something happend to me.
I believe my post nasal drip was active while i was sleeping and woke up with phlegm stuck in my throat. I ran out of breath and it was really scary.
Is that normal? I was trying hard to clear the phlegm and it finally worked but it scared me. My mom called the Paramedics but they said i had normal vital signs and it was up to me if i wanted to head to the hospital!!!!
I'm really scared..

that is very scary when it happens, but as long as you can clear your throat and breath, you are ok. you may want to take a decongestant before you go to bed. Use an extra pillow so it will drain easier. Don't panic. it is a bad cold, but you will be fine.
