View Full Version : Intense pain, sudden urge to use bathroom

I'll start out with the oddest part - every once in awhile (and I do mean awhile...every other month or so, it seems...it's hard to keep track of) I get this intense pain in my rectum, like there's something inside just twisting my insides roughly. The pain lasts anywhere from 5-15ish seconds, but the last time it happened (which was about 3-4 weeks ago, I'd say) it seemed to go on longer and be even more painful. It's only happened a handful of times and it's usually a long period of time between them, but still. It sounds odd and not-normal to me.

Also, as of the last 6 months or so (again, could be longer? I'm bad at this), I've had regular bowel movements - once a day or so. But sometimes I get this extreme urgency to go. Today, for example, I was actually scared of not making it to the bathroom because I was at work.

The first part I have no idea about. Could the second part be my diet? Do I need to watch what I'm eating more and pay attention? Could they be related?

I haven't spoken to my doctor on either of these matters, but I do plan to soon. Any thoughts?

Could be some kind of food you've eated that's triggering it, or you may be developing IBS. Do you feel relief after you go to restroom? If so, that's classic IBS.
