Hi, i haven't gotten a diagnosis on my dizziness, but it started 2 years ago, which was a couple months after two seperate ear infections, each of which i had spinning vertigo and couldn't stand up for a day, but now it it just a lightheaded, foggy, dizzy feeling that is aggravated by movement, busy environments, like stores. and im pretty sure by lights and noise, and of course stress/anxiety makes it real bad. sometimes i also get a sinking, rocking, swaying feeling, like i am walking on a waterbed, and sometimes i feel like i might pass out. recently i have been getting alot of head and ear pressure, which seems to make it worse. the dizziness is there everyday, but fluctuates in its intensity. my question is, how did you get your diagnosis of labs? i had an ENG and everything else, but everything looks normal. Also what SSRI did you take, and how long did it take to work and are you still on it? i would be willing to try anything at this point. thanks for any help you can offer.

Hi stcarlsen,

>how did you get your diagnosis of labs?

Mine was a pretty clear cut text book case. My GP nailed it down on the first visit even though the ER had no idea. I went to the ER thinking I was dying of either a stroke or poisoning of some sort. My ENG was normal too - don't worry about that. It's not very precise.

I'm on Cipramil at the moment and slowly trying to wean myself off of the stuff. But I had great results with it. It pretty much cleaned everything up substantially within 4-5 months (I did nothing in the first 4 months after the attaqck and had a miserable time) and I was at 97% after about 10 months of therapy. It likely worked very well for me because it cleaned up a nasty anxiety problem that kept me imprisoned in the illness. It may have also aided my brain in getting its act together.

Have a read of this post for more info on SSRI use for dizziness/labs etc.

I'd give it a go if nothing else has worked for you. If, after 6 months, there's no change you'll at least rule this out however I would bet the farm you'll see some nice changes.

Best...Scott
